"...if you are in the USA, Canada the UK or Germany (sorry for those in other countries)..."

Why such disregard of Corel Corp. about other countries? Sorry, it was an unfortunate attitude ...

i agree totally with Mr. Silvio Win, why such condition? what's wrong with India & it's artists? we haven't sinned... :( please don't discriminate, Corel... we all love Corel indiscriminately.

Corel typically runs different contests from time to time. Some are regional (like this one), some are global (like the CorelDRAW International Design Contest last year). For those in the Asia Pacific region (including India), we currently have the Corel Asia Pacific Digital Art Contest 2010. You can find more details about that one at www.corel.com/apac-contest.

We're sorry that you and other customers may want to participate, but don't live in an qualifying region. If any other global contests are launched, I'll make sure to post something.

Thank you for the explanations. Now the purpose of Corel became clearer. However, I still think that the original disclosure should contain such reservations, to avoid angry comments (like mine) and not on how people feel discriminated against. We have to wait our turn. Thanks again.

Ha! I was disapointed when Corel ran its last challenge - only pacific countries where allowed to contribute... Now: I AM IN!

Today I noticed that some contest entries that were doing quite well are suddenly gone from the running. What happened to those pieces, and if they were disqualified, then what was the reason?

Don, I checked with the team, and it looks like they had placed a few placeholder images that now have been removed, so that you only vote on true contenders. Sorry for the confusion.

The German uploading is now working... thank you for pointing this out.

Thanks for the correction.

The next error: from the German website you can not vote for images that the American website has been uploaded. (Is it possible to vote from the American side for pictures from Germany??)

Best Regards,

Tweed, you should now be able to vote on the images uploaded on the English site.

Hello there! I'm up to participate. I did my artwork in Corel PHOTO-PAINT X3, so my Project File is in .cpt format. Tried to register my work, but got the message that file format is not correct?!! How so? Corel PHOTO-PAINT is part of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite.

In entry guidlines, it said - Corel software project file - .cdr, .ufo, .pspimage, .rif, .riff, etc. I assumed .cpt falls into etc?

Should I convert file into .cdr? But then it will show each layer as bitmap without settings...

Please help!

Katrin, you should now be able to upload .CPT files.

hello again Gerard,

now that the contest is over, and the judges will decide from the top 25 ... what are they going to do with the fact that there's a tie for 25th place?

note: the piece that looks like it's in 26th was actually ahead all along, and the other caught up at the last minute, but instead appears one position ahead.

I was just wondering how they would handle the tie?

thanks

Gerard, the upload of .cpt files didn't work on the german site. I tried around one week before the entry deadline, but had no luck all the time. I was very dissapointed. Is there a reason why .cpt files weren't allowed to participate?

Gerard Metrailler wrote re: Quest for the Best Creativity Challenge

Mo, there was a problem with CPT uploads that got corrected when raised by Katrin. I thought they would have also corrected it on the DE version of the site... but obviously not. I will check with the team who was responsible for this contest and get back to you.

Gerard, I posted yesterday and I don't mean to harass, but ... any update on how they are going to handle the tie for 25th?

thanks

Don, sorry. I believe everything is explained in the terms & conditions on the site. I am not directly involved with it and therefore would not be able to answer your question.

Don Tywoniw wrote re: Quest for the Best Creativity Challenge

I thank you for your response, however there is nothing in the contest rules regarding a tie.

if the tie was at positions 1 thru 24, it wouldn't really be an issue, but since its at position 25, the "drop-off" point, I would think there needs to be some sort of ruling ... or more fairly, 26 contestants should now get "judged".

Earlier in this blog you mentioned talking to "the team" so I figured you had some way of getting through to the "powers that be" ;-)

again I appreciate you getting back to me.
