The CorelDRAW.com community site supports NNTP access. NNTP access allows you to use readers, such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird or other news readers, to interact with this site.

NNTP access for this site is available here: news://coreldraw.com

Here are the instrcutions to use Microsoft's Outlook Express to interact with this site. Other news readers configuration should follow a similar process.

  1. Open Outlook Express. Click on the Windows Start button. Outlook Express is typically installed in the "All Programs" menu:

  2. Add news server. Within Outlook Express choose from the menu: Tools | Accounts to open the Internet Account dialog and select the News tab. Next, click the Add button and select News:

  3. Internet Connection Wizard. The Internet Connection Wizard will open to configure your news account. It will ask for your Display Name, email, and finally the news server. Enter the news:// address from above, for example: coreldraw.com (remove the news://). Also click "My news server requires me to log on":

  4. Logon. In order to read and reply (as well as view private content) you will need to provide your logon credentials. The account name is composed of your CorelDRAW.com username followed by "@coreldraw": your account name will therefore be similar to "username@coreldraw". Your password is the same as the oneused to access the web version of the site. After this step your news server will be configured:

  5. Select news groups to read. After configuring the news server logon information close the Internet Accounts Dialog opened in step #2. You will then be asked if you would like to download newsgroups. Click Yes:

Next, the newsgroups will download and will be displayed in the Newsgroups Subscription dialog. Simply click on a news group to subscribe to it. You can click multiple newsgroups:

  6. Extended characters support. To be ready to support languages from around the world, CorelDRAW.com is making sure that everything anyone writes with the web interface is in the universal character encoding standard called Unicode (UTF-8). NNTP clients need to be configured to use this form of character encoding to manage accents and other non-English characters correctly.

    • Under Tools > Options, go to the "Read" Tab.
    • Click on the "Fonts..." button.
    • In the list of languages, choose Unicode
    • Make sure that Encoding is "Unicode (UTF-8)".
    • Click on "Set as Default"

    • Click on "OK".
    • Click on the "International Settings..." button.
    • Make sure that "Use default encoding for all incoming messages" is checked

    • Click on "OK".
    • Go to the "Send" Tab
    • Click on "International Settings..."
    • Select "Unicode (UTF-8)" as the default encoding.

    • Click on "OK".
    • Click on "OK" one more time to close the Options window

  7. Read newsgroups. Click OK when you have selected the newsgroups to subscribe to. If posts exist you should now see them in your newsreader:
