Hello everyone, I'm new here so please be kind.
I have recently upgraded to X4 from coreldraw 12, which is a vast improvment.
the problem I'm having is that when i open my old V12 drawings in X4, any spot colour fills do not show up on screen, it shows up in the fill box on the bottom toolbar, I just can't see anything on screen.
I have installed the same palette that i was using on V12 but X4 will not "show" any colour if i fill something with a spot colour from this palette, I have tired creating a new spot colour and installing it in the palette, but no joy there either.
I am obviously missing something pretty simply in the set up area, any help would be great!

Gus, were you using that old version 8 Spot palette to get a printable white in version 12?
No I don't think so, I'm pretty sure It started off as the V12 defult palette, to which I added spot colours too from the custom spot colour palette.
I'm pretty sure that's your problem, Gus, even though I've never experienced it myself.
Most of us, that needed a Spot color palette, for screenprinting, etc. needed to use the old version 8 palette to get a printable white.
This was true for Corel 8 through 12.
Corel X3 finally had a spot palette, of it's own, with a printable white. X4 as well. We no longer had to revert to that old 8 palette.
Not sure what you can do at this point. I have heard of the same issue with a few folks who never used that ver.8 palette.
I don't have any issues opening my old files...............but then again, I always used the version 8 palette in Corel 12.
Maybe someon else can chime in. I do know that X4 has no trouble recognizing that old ver.8 palette, but I've also heard stories about it spitting at a custom ver. 12 palettes.
Sorry I couldn't help. Hopefully some one here will be able to give you a solution.
Thanks anyway, Di.
Anyone else???

Ahh now I'm getting somewhere, enhanced doesn't work either, but the normal setting does. Does anyone know why this is? I have always used the enhanced setting in the past coz it looks the best, thanks alot everyone!

Follow Carlo's advice and have a look at the suggested thread. Custom Spot Color handling should really be taken care of in X5.
BTW, were you helped by the userinks.cpl solution, catch22/carlos?

Moving color from the custom spot colors palette to another palette will create a lot of problems, also custom spots colors fro previous versions can cause problems sometimes. I suggest that you only work with Pantone colors. Also try the color replacer macro that I attached and see if it recognizes your custom spots, that way you can replace them with Pantone colors easily. Have the Pantone palette open when you run the macro.
