Dear Sir or Madam,

at the moment I'm dealing with two problems regarding Photo-Paint X4 (from Corel Graphics Suite X4 14.0.0.701). Since I couldn't find a clue via Google on how to get around these I hope that you might know how to fix them.

1. Problem: After installing SP3 on a pretty much "virgin" Win XP Pro SP2 installation (installed it today) PPX4 doesn't work properly any more. As far as I can see "only" the GUI seems to be affected. Some items in some toolbars became "invisible" (gap between two items) yet still selectable. And  when clicking on a tool it's respective icon is not framed for instance.

After uninstalling SP3 everything is normal again. After re-installing it it resulted in the same problem. The repair option of Photo-Paint (install/repair/remove) doesn't fix this unfortunately.

2. Problem: In the process of installing and uninstalling Corel GS X4 I have encountered a blue screen a couple of times when running the installer. It says something like

"STOP: c000021a (Severe system error) The system process Windows Subsystem was unexpectedly closed. Status 0x0000005 (0x7c9206c3  0x006cf074) The system was shut down.
This seems to occur more or less randomly, however, the probability is like 50/50.

I would be very grateful if you could point me into the right direction. ^_^ Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Hi

I had faced such issue earlier not with Corel version but with some other SW. My issue was sorted when I removed RAM cleaned it and replaced it back. I cant say but hope this sorts out your issue as well. Best of luck.

Had a similar problem with X3  and the icons disappearing.

Problem solved by running Windows compatability wizard and choosing windows 2000 as compatible OS.

Have no idea why but have had no problems since, hope this helps.

Hmm, I performed a memory scan and the program said that no error was found. So I tried what you had suggested but no luck.

However, I was able to fix this issue in the end. I read somewhere here that Corel/PP uses Internet Explorer controls, so I checked the settings and noticed that some options were resetted. I changed those and since then it's been working fine. ^_^

Anyways, thanks a lot for your help guys.

For whatever reason PP X4's GUI recently started acting up again. However, this time tweaking the IE options didn't help at all.

So this time I tried running it in Win2000 compatibility mode. And it works fine again! Yay! ^__^

Funny I must support over 100 systems with SP3 installed with absolutly no issues.
