I have a new computer with Vista 64bit.  I copied my plugin folder from the older computer.  When I try to use most plugins (e.g. Virtual Photographer, Richard Roseman filters) Photopaint shuts down (no warning to try to save or to recover from the problem).  The computer says windows will try to suggest a solution (but it doesn't).  All of the effects that came with PP seem to work, and a few added on plugins like Flaming Pear's Flood or Redfield's Fractalis (although that was REAL slow).  Does anyone have any suggestions for me?  Thanks for any help!  -- Karen

You are aware that you're using 32 bit software not certified for 64 bit operating systems?

Thank you for your reply.  I don't understand about 32 vs. 64 bit.  Corel X4 says it's compatible with both 32 and 64 bit Vista systems (and PhotoPaint seems to work except for most plugins.)

So I guess my plugins are only for 32 bit?  Is there anyway around this?

I have resolved my problems (mostly). I think I caused most of it myself. As I have done in the past (when changing computers or switching to a different version of Corel) I copied the plugin folder from the old computer to the plugin folder in the new computer. Anyway, now I cleared out the plugin folder and started over. Some of the plugins were 'applications' so I should have re-installed them (although that has not been necessary before). The other plugins were zipped files. I had to locate new versions on the web and download again. This worked for about 3/4s of them. I think maybe the plugins that work were updated for Vista and the ones that don't work have not been updated (examples that don't work: Little Ink Pot, Photo Camel, DC Pro). Anyway, thanks for your reply and hopefully my solution will help out someone else in the future.
