PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE FIX BITSTREAM FONT NAVIGATOR 6!
JW
What seems to be your problem, John? (Other than it needs to be fixed, what seems to be wrong with it?)
HuMJohn aka Hugh Johnson
i have to admit it needs work, but it's the simplest one to use, basic drag and drop. if you need another there are other well priced ones like Maintype, Serif Font Manager or if you get a font package like SummitSoft fonts they provide you with a font manager as part of it.
Hugh,
Do you use Font Navigator 6? If you did you would know. Hang, crash restart.
John, you might have a corrupt font somewhere or you might have installed a software that loaded fonts into windows system fonts folder and Navigator hasn't identified them yet. this happened to me when i loaded PagePlus X3. it installed a bunch of fonts and Bitstream was continually freezing when i was doing install/uninstalls. finally i just had Navigator do a font search in the Serif folder and all was fine...

I use FN 6 (came with X4), No hang. No crash. No restart necessary.
Is this the first instance of FN on your computer? If not, find all the older fontnav.fdb and delete them and then rebuild your FN database. Heck, delete your current fontnav.fdb and rebuild it, anyway.
If you still have problems, reload it off of the DVD.
In another thread Gerald says, "might be a little thing that we will sort out shortly ;-)"
Move a font group (install or uninstall) and the program freezes. It does what you ask then freezes so if you have two groups to move, you have to reopen the program to do the 2nd move.

Ah.....I never use 'groups' of fonts. I just roll what I need in, and after I am finished, I roll them back out of 'active'. I try to keep my systems as clean as possible.
John it looks like you are going to have to open up a group that's causing you problems and toggling the fonts one at a time. there might be a problem font causing this.
