Yes indeed Jeff. I use this feature quite a bit.  sometimes I have to rework my designs as I tend ot outline everything first then revisit and color.  good tip none the less

Meshed need some tender loving care because they have the prospect of being extremely powerful. They have been left unchanged for too long.

The Mesh must be reproducable. If you add a colour to one node now it floods the area as you'd expect. If you apply another colour to another adjacent node it floods the area with that colour. If you keep re-applying the same colours to the same nodes the colour flood changes each time, try it. It should achieve a balance. This shows that the mesh is not working correctly.

Suggested before as you know Jeff.

Mesh shape should be based on a Contour to Inside. Too often the mesh extends outside the shape which is poor.

Mesh warp by using a brush type distort tool. Controls for spread, softness etc.

Add colour to node by clicking on pallette colour AND Ctrl-Click on pallette like now with normal fills

Paint on the mesh with any colour to tint the existing colours both add and subtract. Soft and hard brushes, flow rate  etc.

Allow transparency (alpha channel) and painting with no colour brush makes partially (through to fully) transparent.
