Hi

I'm not sure if this question came up already but I was not able to find it here in the X4 forum so I'll give it a try.

Could someone please show me a way to create a "inner shadow" effect with DrawX4?

This is a feature available as a standard in Illustrator and inkscape, but I'd like to do it in X4 the easiest way possible.

Thanks

Samuel

Select the object source and click on this icon (choose a direction):

Did you mean this. ...

I am not sure what results you get with Illy, as I have never use it.

Hello Gentlemen,

thanks for your replies. But as far as I can see this are the regular shadow options of CorelDraw. What I am looking for is the way to add a shadow (like the one in my picture) that actually is giving the impression that the darker layer is on top of the lighter layer and the upper layers shadow is visible on the lower layer. The shadow is only visible in the upper and left parts of the "cut out" area of the darker layer. You can find this feature in Photoshop or Illustrator. The picture provided ny Anand is something I would call "inner glowing" as the "shadow" actually appears on all sides.

Let's see. I guess I'll try to create a object and to make a shadow, than to split shadow and object  so I can only use the shadow in my new drawing.

If someone has another idea you are very welcome to share your thoughts.

Thanks,

S.

Hello Bahnsen,

thanks, it looks I did something similar to you in 3 steps.

The black and white example you give looks more like an "outside" shadow to me.

Try Silvio's method, selecting "Outside" rather than inside -- but because your background is black, a black shadow will do nothing. So in the same toolbar, change "multiply" to "normal" and in the next dropdown, change the shadow colour to white. I think that may do what you need.

Samuel, you got it right :-) This effect in CorelDraw can not be achieved with just one click.

Don't know if this will work for you, but I managed to locate a tutorial (attached) I made a couple of years ago, to illustrate a specific task similar to what you are looking for.

Hi Ronny,

thanks, looks great. The idea to powerclip is much better than my attemp to solve the problem. Additionally I have to admit that I found out, that original art I was trying to copy was made in Photoshop and not in Illustrator - which explains a lot.

Thanks.
