Hi everyone,
I noticed that the price of the update to CoreldrawX5 is189,- USD when it is sold for 355 Euro on the NL site.
this is more than 200 euro above the price in USD!. It should be about 140 Euro. I do hope that this an error.
Regards
Martine
ansorgj:I ordered this way instead of paying EUR. Unfortunately one can only get the download version this way. Which brings me to another issue: Paying nearly the amount that the box costs but missing out all the goodies! Now, I don't need manuals and cliparts and photos - but getting the fonts would have been nice.
If I am not misstaken now, there might actually be so that you can order the "box" when its comig out presumably this march. I dont know if the download version is without all the goodies for ever. You should ask Corel customer service and see what is the deal here. If you get the goodies/DVD/Guidbook.
I might have read that those who by the dowload versio now can either recieve or pay the extrato get the box. In ay case you should look out for the Guidebook. which icludes the actual DVD with the program CDGSX5 as well as the fonts and etc. Its all coming in a nice looking box. If you looked at the Corel webiar for X5, ad checked the website, you will see its a nice and useful thing to have.
Dot give it all up just yet. He/she who waits...

Teleoma: Hi all, Thanks for your quick reactions. The prices I gave are the compared prices for the upgrade versions of CDrawX5. I am an old Corel user (back to Draw 3) and never experienced such a difference in the prices. I bought about 3 weeks ago the Video Studio X3 and WinDVD 20101 from Corel, and the prices in Euro and in Dollar were almost the same. For Europe a little more pricy because the parity euro-dollar, but absolutely not more than twice the price of the US version as for drawX5. Best regards

The difference is the same of previous versions of CorelDRAW. And the same happens with other software, such as Adobe. For example, the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection on Spain is 1.158,84 euro (around 1,566 US dollars) for upgrade and 3.478,84 euro (4700 US dollars) for full version. On the United States website the same version has very different prices: 899 USD for upgrade and 2499 for full version (around the half of the prices of the same version on Spain). The more high price, more difference

I understand if there is a higher price if the program is translated. But it was a long time since there was a Swedish version, and I frankly don't care about one, since the translations are always pretty bad, and it also makes it more difficult to participate in this forum if you have a foreign version.
The price should be equal if the product is equal, only add for transport, customs and VAT. That should be the principle. Anything else is usurious.
Hi Lars,
Lars Forslin:No, unfortunately, you can't. I tried, but when you write in your country (Sweden here) it says I must go to the European part of the site and order.
Are you sure you tried the download and not the box? It's been working.

Very frustrating indeed, it's not a fault, they just charge twice the price..
Using: Corel Graphics Suite, Corel Videostudio Pro, Corel Painter, Corel Paintshop Pro, Alienskin Plugins.

You are probably right, I opted for the box, I want the extras like Swish, fonts etc.

FosterCoburn: Lars, After you purchase the download as Bob instructed, you can call customer service and get the disc for a nominal cost.
Okay, good information. I'll try that one. Thanks.
I did this today. It turned out that the nominal cost amounted to €40 ($ 57). A good bit more than the 10 dollars charged in US, but still not much to argue about. Thank you for the tip, I bought the download through the link on your page. Hope it helps some.
In Croatia, CorelDraw Graphics Suite X4 Win Small Business Edition cost 1118 Euros (on action)... and you talking about prices...
btw, that is without tax. Meaning +22% on price...
This was for the media/extra material. I had already bought the license at the US web store. I think anyone in Europe could do the same. That was a great tip I got from Foster, see above. Cuts cost for us in Europe substantially.
I am from India and Pricing is damn high here too. Here upgrade cost around $250. Also, you might have not noticed that all these prices are of one time purchase and if Corel comes out with higher verson even within a year you have to pay again for the upgrade.
WTF:Corel X5 Upgrade and Box costs gone 100% higher at very first release of Corel from Adobe. Earlier it was Corel and now it's part of Adobe. So, we are forced to pay for name called Adobe and not for the software.
Considering the conversion approx @ INR 50 per US$ the price for an upgrade works out to INR 12500. The download price for an upgrade on Corel's site is $229 which works out to be INR 11450. AFAIK Corel does not collect the taxes but the user is supposed to pay the applicable taxes and duties in their respective regions. With that I don't think its priced higher in India.
Graphit India:I am from India and Pricing is damn high here too. Here upgrade cost around $250.
It is the price for the version. If you wish to upgrade and use the features added to a new version, its obvious you have to pay for it. I have a legal licence of Version 3. Do you expect Corel to keep on allowing me to use all further versions without charges. LOL. I would be the most happiest person in the world if they do it.
Graphit India:Also, you might have not noticed that all these prices are of one time purchase and if Corel comes out with higher verson even within a year you have to pay again for the upgrade.
Well its a news to me, if I understand correct from what you meant. I think Corel is still Corel and Adobe is still Adobe. Two business rivals and two different companies. BTW there is hardly any price difference in the prices that were for CDGSX4 and now CDGSX5.

Mr. Anand, Thanks for your detailed reply. Also, thanks for correcting me that Corel is not part of Adobe. Otherwise, for your kind information I just purchased download version of CorelDraw X5 (Upgrade) from above suggested site in just Rs. 8,176.35 (US$178.99) all inclusive saving of app. US$70.
As far as up-gradation is concern what I mentioned above is "If I purchased ver X5 today (01-03-2011) I must be allowed to upgrade it free of cost if Corel X6 or higher version comes out within a year (till 28-02-2012). All software companies does like this except Corel.
