Hello All,

Please forgive me, as I am new to Corel Draw. I can use it's basic functions, but I am by no means comfortable with it. I am relatively computer savvy so any help will be appreciated. When tracing over objects I like to use the bezier tool. This may not be the best way to go about it but it's the only way I know how. Once finished, I have trouble being able to fill the beziered object with solid colors. It seems it doesn't allow the same properties as a pen tool would, for instance. Also, occasionally I have to pull away from my object I'm drawing because it's not forming the curve I want. So I click away and come back to it. Upon zooming in, the lines I've drawn aren't smoothly connected. They are often overlapping or the edges are choppy. Is there a way to select all lines and "join" them and then smooth them? So that it's a smooth connection from line to line? Again I apologize. One day I'll learn.

Thanks so much for any help I may receive,

Kristin

The easiest way to hand trace that I have found is to make a very rough outline around your object using the Bezier. Click at the beginning and end of curves on the object you are tracing to make a node point. Don't try to make curves, just straight lines, then make sure the bezier object closes at the end.

Switch to the shape tool, and select all the nodes (icon on the interactive property bar). Make all the nodes cusps, and all the lines into curves. These are also icons on the property bar. Click off, so all your nodes aren't selected, then click on to the part of the bezier object you want to edit. Continue tweaking the object until it looks the thing you are tracing.

It takes much longer to explain than to do. For an excellent video tutorial, go to http://macromonster.com/index.php?mod=descr&id_desc=5&id=17. It is well worth the $9.95.

It just so happens I fell upon this method on my own, but then, I've been using the program since version 3...
