I am creating images to put on t-shirts. When I draw an image on a white paper and scan it into my pc files, how do I keep the white paper from showing up as a background on my created dark t-shirts? I am using CorelDRAW X3. I`ve tried a number of different procedures on Corel such as transparency tool, remove background. Even though it`s gone on my work page, after I save image and then reopen it, the white is showing again. Erasing it is too difficult because of the detail. So some white will always show.
Help! Anyone!

Transparency tool doesn't remove an object. It just make the object transparent. so basically, it's still there.

You can utilize magic wand tools, etc. and then use eraser tool or something similar in Photo Paint . Or if you really are concerned about the detail of your artwork, you can utilize the channel mask to make a selection. (I'm a Photoshop user so I can't help farther with photopaint)

It depends on the design, but have you tried using Power Trace (in CorelDRAW) to change the scanned image into a vector? Then you can simply delete the background white objects. This will work for some designs and won't for others.

Is this a raster or vector design?

Could you post your picture so we can better guide you? (preferred .cdr format)

It`s raster but I could convert to vector by tracing bitmap. Which ever way will accomplish the task. It`s a black ink drawing on white paper that I scanned into my pc files. I then opened it with CorelDRAW X3. The only way I can remove the white paper background is by using the eraser tool. As you can imagine, that can be a tedious and lengthy process and difficult to do without erasing part of the drawing.

VaI, I tried thay but it didn`t do the trick but thanks.

Silvio, here is a black ink sketch on white paper in PNG format. For some reason I could not insert CDR file in this post.

Open it in PhotoPaint. Use magic want (that's what it's for!). Depending
on ultimate use, you may go instead for:

-create object from background
-create clip mask
-magic wand on the clip mask; delete key (with wand still active)
after this there are many alternate ways
--such as combine clip mask with object, copy/paster into Corel Draw if
is to be part of something else
--create PNG or CPT or whatever.....so many aways of doing things that
depend entirely on ultimate use.....

See image. The white color was removed using CorelTRACE. (colors only to show transparency)

another free from the greats... I love corelforums...

i think what aversa wondered...

"do i have to really select and delete each and every white background from the image to achieve transparency?"

Sometimes when i browser images from the net, my first question is that:

Do i really have to do that 1 by 1? or is there a magic button?

just thoughts...

I know how to follow instructions! Geeked

I think the fastest way to remove white backgrounds is my commercial magic erase macro for PHOTO-PAINT. Watch the video there Smile
