Coreldraw files should be password protected even when the file is opened and when suppose to edit it asks for to enter password to edit. Password protection include allow for printing, editing and only for viewing
custom shapes should be saved and reused like all the shapes in coreldraw circle, rectangle, star...etc

What I mean is that already you can split a long document, and automatically combine all parts when Print or when Publist to PDF. But he main problem is to use CorelDRAW as a page layout program. If you want to use CorelDRAW for a huge books, you will need more than split pages, also you need to create chapters, index, auto-numbering (and allows to continue the numbering on the follow chapter), share Stules between documents, allows to drag a page with the content from one document to another, and much more. CorelDRAW is often use for almost all design operations, (has photo-paint, swish or RAVE etc) for preparing book too. Corel Ventura is old program and I don't now if will be next versions. CorelDRAW is very many-sided program.Often is compare with InDesign and of course InDesign is better in preparing books, and in paging.Therefore Corel users will be happy to get new options for prepare books.I think that Corel should be strike home with new options for the text, and books.And I'm sure that options for the text - footnotes, good hyphenation algorithm in national languages, options for Widows and Orphans Lines will be good solutions and corel users will be happy.It is SPORTING CHANCE on new users for Corel Corporation. :-)

I know, I use it for almost all kind of jobs. But that don't means that is the appropriate program for all purposes. iw you can do a web page, but if you want to develope an entire web you need more than this. Of course, is possible to improve CorelDRAW and add some features to create a powerful web creator, altough I wish a separate module (like PowerTrace, Barcode, etc) and not all-in-one inside the main application. But , if you want to create a a web editor is not enough to add one or two new features, you will need a complete pack of solutions.
In the same way, already you can create books and magazines with CorelDRAW. And is one of the best, but if you want to improve CorelDRAW as a page layout software, you don't need to split big documents, because the program must be capable to handle hundreds of pages. And also, must be fast with a big amount of text.
is not enough to add one or two new features on each versions if you want to convert CorelDRAW on a real and powerful desktop publishing software.. Split documents is useful, but is not enough. If you improve CorelDRAW as a desktop publishing software, you will need much more than this. For example: a better, fast and simple management of Master Pages, page sorter, Text and graphics styles, color styles, better automatic text and color replace, better options of text handle, auto page numbering and re-order (including start on a different first page), footnotes, headers, image's footnotes, and much more.
The best part of all is that already Corel has all this features, on another software of the same company: CorelVentura, very similar and compatible on many aspects with the same code of CorelDRAW. I know that CorelVentura is a quite old program and the problem is not to discuss about a new release of the same Ventura. But if you want to develop CorelDRAW as a page layout software,. you must see the other desktop publishing software: Indesign, the old PageMaker, Quark. and Ventura. And if Corel needs to use some new features on CorelDRAW, already is owner of Ventura, and can use part of the same code (compatible and similar to CorelDRAW's code) instead to buy a new softare or develop a new entire program. btw, in the same way that I vote for an independent software for web creation, I also believe is better to use an independent interface for page layout and not all in the main program for improve speed. At the present, from my point of view, the speed with a big amount of text is one of the biggest problems of CorelDRAW as a page-layout software.
Most people want a new release of Ventura, and most people don't want to hear nothing about this, But the problem is not "Ventura or not Ventura", the maijn problem are the Page Layout capabilities. the features that we need for transform CorelDRAW to a desktop publishing software. If it's not possible to transform CorelDRAW to a powerful page-layout software, then we need a fast, simple but powerful desktop publishing program inside the CorelDRAW suite. No matter the name or the content. Of course, Corel can buy Quark or another company, but why spend money if Corel can use their own technology?
Improve features and options of CorelDRAW for a proffessional publishing software requires a lot of work. You must add a lot of features but at the same time, the program must be lighter and faster.
1) Crop should be performed on freehand curve based also desptie of constrained to rectangle. So that unnecessary elements can be cropped by freehanding.
2) Crop to Powerclip source, so that many elements should be cropped to powerclip just by having a 5mm outer and cropped.
3) Auto symbolize - which automatically search for the same bitmaps used in the document and convert them into a single symbol.
By doing so the document size can be reduced drastically.

I see that the big and famous program Quark, InDesign want add new options for new powers.For example Quark added Flash technology and Quark users got means to create swf animations.On Quark's forums Quark users ask about any vector program bacause now Quark has poor implements.Someone had idea join Quark with any vectors program mayby any old and forgotten.It is trend for new aplications. Join vector, flash, photo, dtp.I don't know effect of sales for Ventura but I guess that ID or Quark are before Ventura. Beacuse it are new programs with new options.Is one question what think about this Digital Media Development Jeremy Liang, or Business Development Eleanor B. Lacey.? :-)I hope - simple user - that Corel will be convert and will be near ID or Quark.Come back to the text topics.Now I can't work with the text on many pages in CorelDRAW because I have problem with the hyphen.And I can't understand how free Scribus can works with the text and nationals hyphen, but Corel can't.How many people work in Corel company and how many for Scribus?Sorry, mayby it is too sharp, but We have 15 versions the program and still he can't simple thing. Image links can be updated automatically? For example, the files include cdr and images, I move them from C drive to D drive, than open the cdr file, but the image links are lost! I have to manually update them.

I think a better idea is in X6 for Corel to access GPU on modern vid cards to massively speed up screen redraws.
