I downloaded CGS X3 trial version from Corel Web Site, and tried to install it to my new laptop with Windows Vista pre-installed.  The installation seems okay, but never get a chance to get the program running!  After double click the shortcut on desktop, the loading screen pop up then another message pop up says somethings like:  "Installation incomplete, please re-install the program"

Tried to uninstall the whole suite and re-install it again, but no luck.   Does anyone of you has the same problem, or any idea why this happen?  Please help.  I'm a newbie to Corel Draw...Thanks for your help in advance

I just purchased CorelDraw X3 for my new HP Pavilion dv9000 with vista home premium and it won't install at all. The only reason I bought it was to replace Microsoft PhotoDraw which came with Office 2000. I loved that program and hated to let it go, but it wouldn't work on vista either. If you come up with any solutions, please let me know; otherwise, I guess I'll have to call the retailer where I bought it and try to get my money back. The fact that the stated minimum system requirements includes Vista does not say much for the marketing department.

Greg,

I have successfully installed CorelDRAW X3 on Vista. So it does work. But
you'll have to provide a few more details if we are to try and help you.
Maybe you just have a bad disk? Can you elaborate on "won't install at all"?

I will describe the steps and results:

1. I insert the CD ROM and get message asking if I want to install or run the installation program. I click to install.

2. I get the CorelDraw X3 welcome splash. I click "install CorelDraw"

3. I get message "a program needs your permission to continue." I click continue.

4. I select English for the language. Then OK.

5. It starts the windows installer. Then I get message: "Windows installer has stopped working." Then... another message: "Send info. to Microsoft?"

The process generated the following installation logs:

1. Windows NT  Version 6.0 Build: 6000
Product (0x3): Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Edition: HomePremium
BuildString: 6000.16551.x86fre.vista_gdr.070828-1515

I would highly recommend that you contact the Corel technical support (all the details under http://www.corel.com/contactus). CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 (with Service Pack 2) has been fully tested on Windows Vista (it is what Microsoft calls "Certified for Windows Vista"). Please make sure that you have no other software running while installing CorelDRAW Graphics Suite on your computer, especially certain anti-virus software that have a bad tendency to cause problems with installations.

Gérard

Using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6.4 with Premium Membership, CorelDRAWTechnical Suite X6 SP1 & CorelCAD 2014
on Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit  / Intel Core i7, 8 Gb RAM.

I have resolved the installation problem. After talking with a CorelDraw tech who felt that it must be a corrupt CD, I decided to try one more thing before sending it back for a new set of disks. I deactivated Norton Virus Protection. Viola. That was the problem. Everything installed with no problem.

Greg

My computer installed OK but when I went to run it, said "log in using an administrator level account". I have used Corel Draw since version 4 long ago and got this new Vista and can't seem to do it. Anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks!

I also had numerous problems installing and using Corel Draw x3 on a new Vista computer. I googled it and came up with a few suggestions--(I still have this program crash on my system periodically, so I do a backup every ten minutes!) Disable the user account settings before you do the install, for some reason that helped, additionally, make sure that (as was mentioned previously), you have ALL your security software diabled before you install the program.  You can then reboot and acitvate everything that you deactivated to do the install.  Not sure if that will help, but it was my answer to the problem.  Hope it helps Wink

I just upgraded with a new laptop to Vista and decided to try CorelDrawX4 for the 15 day Trial.  I really love it!  But not sure I can justify the upgrade when I have a perfectly good CorelDrawX3.  I own a small screen printing business and have permission to use the software on my desktop at work and my laptop on the go.  Do I have to do anything in particular (such as uninstalling from the old laptop?) before I try installing my X3 to my new laptop...other than disable all my security (LOL)?

I know what you mean. I tend to skip versions in other software if the
LVS license for their teachers doesn't include it. Since I teach
CorelDRAW, I have to keep up with it. The biggest difference in X3 to X4
to me are the layers and the way it works so much better with Vista.
If you decide to wait on updating, you probably don't have to uninstall
the trial, but I always recommend uninstalling before installing the
other. It's just safer that way. When you uninstall, if you've got a
chance to check "remove user files" I recommend that as well. It won't
delete any of your data, just workspaces and preferences and such
created with X4. That way there's no chance things will get messed up.
Have fun!

It could be the Vista that I am loving!  I have been able to spend alll of 2 days playing with the X4 and then had to go back to work, where I have XP & X3. Hopefully if my trial  isn't over I can play with it some more this weekend.

I really like the tracing in X4...it's much better than X3's.

I haven't had near the time to play with it that I thought I would.  I did the trial on my laptop and have been working in my shop on the desktop. I can in no way justify an upgrade right now.  I just ended up having to get a new laptop for on the go.  The other one crashed 'lterally' into the concrete.  So I now have Vista, and uninstalled X4 and installed X3...with no problem!  Yes
