Eyedropper every where

Imagine what can be done with an Eyedropper on every Color Dropdown picker on the Property Bar, Uniform Fill dialog or Fountain Fill dialog.

Copying a fill or an outline to another object ([Right-click and drag] + Shift or Alt + Ctrl)

In CorelDRAW X3, you can copy an object's fill, outline or both to another, by right-dragging the source object while pressing shift, Alt or both, and drop it onto the destinations object.

What about pressing Ctrl while [right-dragging + Shift or Alt] to alternate the copy; source fill to be destination outline, source outline to be destination fill, or both?

The Interactive Fill tool and [Right-click and drag]

Like copying a fill to another object, imagine that you can right-drag an object onto the destination object’s interactive vector handles or markers; with Shift to drop its fill, Alt to drop its outline, and Shift + Alt to drop a fill and outline mixed color.

This method needs the Interactive Fill tool to be active and the interactive vector handles or markers to be shown (an object with fountain fill selected).

This can be applied to the Interactive Drop Shadow tool, the Interactive Transparency tool and the Interactive Mesh Fill tool.

One-Shot Eyedropper

What happens when you click, right-click, [Ctrl + click] or [Ctrl + right-click] a color from a palette?

Imagine that you can click, right-click, [Ctrl + click] or [Ctrl + right-click] the drawing window instead, with the One-Shot Eyedropper.

Press a key, and from the drawing colors

  1. Set default fill or outline (with nothing selected)
  2. Pick a uniform fill or an outline for the selected object/s
  3. Mix colors (Ctrl+click)
  4. Pick a color for the selected handle, marker in the Interactive Fill tool
  5. Pick a color for the selected node or patch in a mesh fill

The One-Shot Eyedropper can reach and sample from the desktop.

If you Ctrl+click to mix colors, the One-Shot Eyedropper remains active. When you finish mixing, press Esc key (or space).

Copy Color Components

Three options to copy color components

  1. Triple-click in any numbers field to select all > Ctrl + (C or V) to copy or paste
  2. Select numbers when the color has no name
  3. Copy and Paste Color Components buttons

Eyedropper

  1. Was the old Eyedropper Selection useless? Why it is removed from CorelDRAW X3?
  2. Why there is no preview swatch attached to the Eyedropper tool, along with a box listing the color model component values, as Corel PHOTO-PAINT?

Other

  1. Desaturate command (vectors' colors)
  2. Ability to mix the colors of the Artistic Media (Ctrl+click a color swatch)

It is possible for the administrators to do that, but it can have some side effects, especially for those subscribing to the forums through RSS or accessing them through NNTP.

Now in CorelDRAW X4, you can use <Ctrl+click a color swatch> to mix the color of the Artistic media :)

Unfortunately, changing the Artistic Media color will also be applied to its control curve. If the control curve is closed (or the Fill open curves option is checked), it will be filled with the new color or mix :(

Put a link to this thread there so it's easy to find from there.

Interesting suggestions. Mixing colors by Ctrl+Click opens up a more intuitive way if mixing colors.

I lobbied hard for this in the beta group, but unfortunately without result. It feels like stone age that you have to write color values in. This and the lack of a hex color model is the most urgent updates for color in Draw I believe. Now you can use RGB values in CSS so perhaps Hex is getting obsolete. If you wait long enough to implement a feature, it will have become obsolete, so then you won't have to do itBig Smile

I do find it strange that CorelDraw Still doesnt have a Hex option on colour selection, how tough would it be to impliment? Surely its just a different way of associating colour values
