Re: Corel 9 on Windows XP

I have recently installed Coreldraw 9  on WindowsXP and have had problems. Both programmes have be reinstalled on my system and the one at the repair shop but no luck. When I try to edit a simple embedded linear drawing in XP it comes up with a message saying I need to install Coreldraw. If I work the other way and paste a document from XP to corel draw most of the text is missing.

If I upgrade to CD illustrator X3 will I be able to transfer my drawing across?

    Thanks for any help!

Might have something to do with the more recent (after Vista) XP updates (code structures). I don't know. I have V9 on my XP system for years (and V11 and X3) and no (OS to App) problems. If you only recently installed on XP, what was V9 running on before ?

    Hi Ted

I purchased the software second hand - its my first go at drawing this way and I love using the programme. I would like to upgrade. Do you think I'll have problems loading my drawings created In V9 into X3?

V9 files should open just fine in X3.

If you've just installed V9, then you'll need any SP's as well. The last build was 9.337 (If you don't already know, click on "Help>About" and you will see your present build #)

    Hello,

I have had a time of it with my Corel 9 on Windows XP. I have had my machine for about two years and when I first got it Corel draw ran fine. Then after having some problems with updates every time I go to start Corel draw 9, windows says it needs to install Office Front Page (which is already installed)

then it gives me a error message that Corel Draw has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. Is there a fix for this? I really need my Corel Draw and it used to work fine.

    Frustrated,

I have CD v9 on my PC's, both XP - SP2. One is Home the other MCE. Never seen your problem.

I'd suggest uninstalling CD and doing a clean install.

    Thanks for the reply,

Yes I have tried uninstaling, removing and fresh install, still the same problem. I removed Office 2003 and rebooted still the same problem. Very frustrating because I know it used to run before. Thanks for the reply.

    Getting more frustrated,

    Terry Prong
