I installed X6 (trial) last night for experimentation !

Went to work this morning in X5. Surprise ! PP5 won't open when I tried to modify a bitmap directly from Draw X5. The menu item where not available. I did an installation « Repair » for X5 and everything went to normal... except, now PP6 won't work when I tried to modify a photo from within DrawX6.

Anybody has the same problem ? Some solutions to make both installation work at the same time ?

Try closing and re-opening CorelDraw after you have done all of the above. It seems to decide at startup whether there is an available bitmap editor, so any change you make subsequently will not re-enable the edit capability.

Tried that, no amount of opening Draw makes it work. I just did a repair on X5, now it can connect to Paint X5 no problem, but the link between Draw X6 and Paint X6 no longer works (edit bitmap option grayed out). I wouldn't care if Draw X5 used Paint X6, but when it can't use anything, it's a pain. Should be an easy fix for this, like, I don't know, a selection in the options dialog to pick a bitmap editor maybe?

Anybody find a solution? This is really frustrating...

I'm sorry to chime in here only to make matters worse...

This problem has been going on for many, many years!

No one has ever identified the true root of the problem, only the workarounds... either Windows or CorelDraw/Paint is rewriting the association for the bitmaps.

I have X3 & X5 installed, when I installed X6 trial all Draw versions edited in PP X6, when trial expired they still opened in PP X6 but wouldn't save changed.

Sooo I uninstalled X6 ............ then the edit bitmap opened Windows Paint, (this has happened to many others) the real question here is how can Windows Paint view the file when you can't open a cpt directly in Paint, and which program made the change, something must be being written into an ini or other control file, eh?

p.s. I re-associated cpt in CorelPaint and rebooted...  edit bitmap grayed out in both X3, X5

Try associating cpt to Corel PhotoPaint not CorelPaint...
