I open up this thread just to post little annoyances and odd things I've found using PP on a day to day basis. They are not critical, but I would be pleased if devs can take notice, just to improve the user experience on upcoming versions

Merge Mode dropdown:

  • Select an object.
  • On the Objects docker, click on the "Merge Mode" drop down.
  • Click again to close it, but retain focus.
  • Now, use the down arrow to change the merge mode, the effect get applied realtime on the object.
  • Now, use the arrows to move up to "normal" again; "normal" is not applied to the object.

Scale tool:

  • Draw a 270x75px rectangle using the "rectangle tool".
  • Select it, and on the "property bar", "position and size" mode, delete the "270" on the first scale input box and type "100"
  • Push TAB, focus jumps to the second input box, type "20".
  • Press TAB again, the values get changed to "101" and "21".
  • This happens also if you push "Apply" after entering the values manually.

Update: seems that only happens when you try to downscale an object. Upscaling seems to work fine.

Creating an object from a mask:

  • Draw a rectangle using the "Rectangle Tool"
  • Draw a selection using the "Rectangle Draw Tool". Make sure part of the mask is over an empty area and part of it covers the rectangle.
  • Create an object by coping the current selection (ctrl+up).
  • PhotoPaint autoselects the new object BUT the selection is off. Transformation handles follow the shape of the selection and NOT the shape of the new created object, which is smaller. If you try to use the handles, you might end up with a deformed object.

Hi,
Be sure to add my complaint about the lack of a Source and Target dialog for  cloning.
Then again that’s a  big annoyance.

Hi Phil. Just post the step by step instructions on how to reproduce it :)

Hi Psy,
Psy:  “Just post the step by step instructions on how to reproduce it :)”
Phil: “That’s part of the problem.  I never know what the source will be for the clone tool.  It’s erratic.  The work around is to clone to a new layer and then combine that layer with the one that you want.  Most of the time, that works.”

Hi,

I may miss something in what you like to explain, but I could easily see and use and apply Normal in Merge Mode. I could easily move up to normal again. PP X6.1

Hi Stefan. Thanks for taking the time and check on this :D

On PP X6.1, if the dropdown menu is open, you can navigate OK using the arrow keys, BUT, if the dropdown is closed (which usually happens if you TAB the selectors), you *can* select the normal mode using arrow keys, but the last merge effect remain applied to the object.
