I, was sent a file from AI for reproduction in .eps format. Corel X6 distorts the art on import or open. The same file given to me as a pdf is fine. Can anybody help? Corel Draw's strength is it's import abilities, and I expected X6 to cope with anything Adobe could throw at it from current releases.

Do you have latest version of Ghostscript installed?
You can download and install Ghostscript from here...
Latest version of Ghostscript is 9.05...

Perfect, thank you for the rapid response and easy fix.
To explain further; Draw uses Ghostscript for EPS import since X5 (was it?).
Edit: I've checked and yes, it was X5.It is possible to import EPS also without Ghostscript, but PostScript 3 support will be limited. This is probably what you've seen, Rod.

Hi KURSAD,
I never install GS that comes with CDGS installer. I uncheck that option during installation and then install latest version of GS manually.
You can uninstall both from control panel and then install only the latest one. Shouldn't be any problem I guess.
Draw will use GhostScript version installed by Corel's installer (8.64). If you didn't install GhostScript via Corel installer Draw will pick up the highest version of GhostScript available on the system. All this is controlled by this registry key, written by the Corel installer upon installation of GhostScript:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Corel\\CorelPS2PDF\\PreferredVersion

I want ask to you another thing. is there difference between 8.64 and 9.05?
Kursad Cakir:I can not find the registry key... am i missing something?
I think you only need the reg key if you have more than one version of ghostscript installed and wish to use something other than the highest version.

Gennady Petrov: CorelDraw will first look if preferred version is specified in the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Corel\\CorelPS2PDF\\PreferredVersion. This key is set by Corel installer if user chooses to install GhostScript 8.64. If user did not install GhostScript via Corel installer this key will be absent and we will look for the highest available version of GhostScript on the system, it does not matter how you installed it. It is absolutely fine and even advisable to use higher version of GhostScript, the only reason we do not use latest GhostScript automatically is QA need to make sure it passes our internal tests, our release schedule obviously does not coincide with that of GhostScript. Latest version of GhostScript might ( just might ) have some wrinkles.

Kursad Cakir:I try to find reg key on my work computer Win7ULT64bit, CDGSX6 64 bit... But I can not find the reg key...
Hi Kursad,
You are right, looks like our setup does not write this key. It means we will just pick up the highest GS version available. The only way to control which GS version to run is to add and edit this key manually.
Gennady
Does that mean that I can uninstall the one that was installed by Corel ? BTW I think my DRAW installer did not recognize the higher version even though it was isntalled. Normally it says "Already installed", right ?

Yes, you can keep just a highest version of GS on the system. I am not sure why installer would not recognize that there is GS already installed, might be difference between 32 vs 64-bit GS.
