Can you let us know which mouse and driver you're using?

T.

Hi Tony,
1. I have the same problem with the mouse. It also acts the same way in
Corel Paint Shop Pro X4.
2. In PhotoShop CS5 the mouse zoom center is at the cursor.
.. This is all that I could find out about the mouse:
-- The tag on the mouse says that it is a Dell MM:M-RB-DEL4.
-- The Control Panel declares that the mouse provider is Microsoft. Date
6/21/2006. Version 6.1.7600 16385. It is HID compliant. A search on the
internet said that the driver was up to date.

Just as an aside, I consider this problem to be very small. I just chase
the point of interest when zooming.

However, I consider the inability to choose the Source layer (object) for
the clone tool to be a serious deficiency in PhotPaint. I finally
pinpointed how the clone tool is acting when cloning between layers. See my
post “Epilogue on Cloning”.

My very own personal opinion is that the clone tool should get top priority
for any fixes. It’s a giant pain in the ---- for those of us who do a lot
of compositing.

Yes. I'm using the Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 and I installed the IntelliPoint 8.2 64-bit for Windows 7 drivers.

All:

I have a similar issue with the mouse that comes with the Wacom Intous 3, but I'm the only guys I've ever heard complain about it....I'll check around and see what's going on with this issue.

If your using a Wacom or I would assume any mouse that lets you set the wheel to a specific program you can set the wheel to keystroke  F2 and F3 PhotoPaints zoom keys. It will then zoom straight in on the cursor. In ( I think 80% ) jumps. That you might be able to change in the options. Every now and then I think about this and set it. Then I realize I don't like it and take it off.

I did use it a lot in Adobe for it didn't have any wheel zoom for a long time. Photoshop now has that feature. But Illustrator has not, it just pans the screen with the wheel.

The biggest help I found for the mouse wheel is the button on it. I set it to keystroke N ( also in the wacom setup file ) which lets me jump in and out of the navigator. This helps a LOT when the zoom isn't quite where you want it to be.

You know, regardless of the mouse driver, if it just zoomed in at your mouse cursor every time then this crazy, squirrely behavior wouldn't happen in the first place.
