I got this message from GS1 Sweden regarding GS1-128 and code 128:

The names of the two bar code types are similar and many vendors make the mistake of confusing them- Producing a GS1-128 after the model code 128 makes the barcode completely unusable, says Alice Mukaru at GS1 SwedenShe urges providers to pay attention to the problem. One of the causes of the problem is that many barcode software does not provide adequate guidance to the user.

Does anyone know if I can make GS1-128 if we upgrade to X6?

Sorry, barcodes were not updated between X5 and X6.

But are gs1-128 and code 128 same?

I tested code 128. I get the same result with provided gs1-128 barcode.
