I've experienced the same issue several times now in X6 - when copying artistic text to the clipboard, when I paste that text into another artistic text, the program terminates with errors.
Another error that's persisted for MANY versions now, and is VERY frustrating is that when an object (i.e., vector graphics, such as circles, lines, etc) is copied to the clipboard and pasted onto another object (i.e., a filled rectangle), often, the pasted object appears behind the first object. If I "bring it to the front", it does not show up. It's not until the document is "saved" that it shows up. This isn't a BIG issue, but it's been an issue for many versions now. It would be nice if it can be fixed in a future update.

Do you have "manual refresh" set? That would probably cause it, but I'm sure it would show similar problems in lots of other places too.
Interruptible refresh is also a possibility. But in both cases, ctrll-W ought to refresh the display without needing to save and re-open.

perhaps you have an object outside the page. The "desktop" is a different layer. Move all objects inside the page or in the same layer

The issue is a clear bug - and it's been a bug for at least 4 versions of CorelDraw. The ONLY way to get the pasted layer to the top is to physically save the document. The instant it's saved, it shows up.

Sorry, but not.
I never seen this issue, not only on my own computer, also on any other user. And I aw a lot of users. Always paste on top on the active layer..
Maybe the bug is in your graphics driver rather than CorelDraw?
Pasting is something that most of us do very frequently and there would be plenty of other reports if others were having the same problem.
I don't get it. I've seen this in multiple versions, multiple computers, and multiple graphics cards/drivers. I have been creating complex documents with CorelDraw since the second Corel version. At some point in the version progression, this started to happen - and continues in X6. My documents have multiple groups of objects, where each group only have several layers. When I paste an object onto the goup, often the only thing I see are the "drag corners" - the object doesn't appear. If I try to bring the object to the top, nothing happens. Then if I save the document, it magically appears.
I'll try to create a "hello world" example and post a link when I'm back at my design computer.
It may have to do with the complexity of my pages. There is a LOT of text in many groups of text and graphics.
I also can't "Proof" my documents by printing to a PCL or Postcript printer from Draw - printing ALWAYS fails with only portions of the page printing . I have to publish to a PDF and then print. This also has been an issue in many of the more recent versions of Draw - although I haven't tried it in X6 yet.
I was hoping the 64-bit version would help resolve some of these issues.
It is always possible that there is something specific in the file which triggers the problem.
If you can create a file and save it in the state it is in before you paste the "disappearing" item, and also save the "paste" object into a separate file, I'll be happy to try it out and see if I can get the same to happen and try to figure out what the cause is.
It happens with all of my documents - as I said, they're very complex documents. I don't know if creating a "hello world" example will work, but I'll try tonight.
A sample of what the docs look like is here: http://www.photocheatsheets.com/images/T4i_650d_wi2.gif
Another issue in X6 is that bar-code no longer rotates with the document (it used to in X5), which you can see in this gif file.

Cut (Ctrl+X) and go to Edit / paste special as Metafile. You can ungroup, change colors, rotate, change font, modify, crop and all what you need
Thanks - I'll have to give that a try.
I think that bar-code was created in X5 - I actually migrated to X6 in the middle of creating that document. It's possible that if I created it in X6, that it would have been OK. But I'll try pasting as a metafile.
It's taken a while, but I haven't been working with Draw for a while.
Here's an example of pasting an object won't show up until the file is saved.

This short video shows a small portion of a document. I have an object on the clipboard and I press Ctrl V to past the object. You can see the objects 8 "handles" show up that I move the mouse around. I then press the key combination to bring it to the front - nothing happens. I then save the file (Ctrl S) and presto - the object shows up.
I can't seem to reproduce this with a simple document, but all of my documents are complex and this happens about 80% of the time. The only way to make most pasted objects show up is to SAVE the document.
Hello Bert; My ver. X4 and X6.1 work as it should. You said this has been giving you problems for a few ver., are you using the same computer and setup? How long are you waiting to save it after you use the "Ctrl+V" to bring it up?
George
This has been happening for at least 4 or 5 versions now (I've been using CD since version 2) - I've gone thru many computers in that time! iIt's not the computer.
It also happens when I group a few existing objects together - once I group them, sometimes they "hide" behind another object and won't show up again until I save.
It does have to do with document complexity. My documents are quite complex - lots of text and not quite as many objects. It doesn't happen on simple documents.
