This has been an on again off again problem in XP. When starting Trace the launch stops with the intro logo. The last period of time it was functional began when I had my repair shop change my virus program. Now it is hanging again. Any ideas. - David C

HI David C,

I just saw your question.
Allthough CorelDRAW 10 and Corel Photo-Paint does work using Windows XP, I dont believe its optimized for using Win XP.
If you use Win XP, Vista or in October 2009 buy the new Windows 7 operating system (Win 7 seems better choice than Vista), then if you are going to update your CorelDRAW 10, it would be a good choice to upgrade to CorelDRAW X4 - CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4.

I have earlier used CorelDRAW 10 with much joy, but as the operating systems keep changing, so the older versions of CorelDRAW and other non-corel programs, lack optimizing to the new operating systems. Meaning for example that optimized for Vista for example I believe only CorelDRAW & Photo-Paint 12, X3 and X4 is. So Windows 7 might just be X3, X4 and later versions.

But of course this doesnt necessarily solve your current problem.

If you still have the same problem with CorelTRACE 10, I would suggest you either re-install the whole program suite 10, or firstly try by holding down the F8 key on the keyboard when you start CorelTRACE 10. When asked clik OK button.

You could also try to insert your CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 10 CD (CD nr 1)
And choose "Repair" button. Which might repair by adding files that might be missing after your computer service/repair shop changed your virus program.

I had the same in Windows 7, I tried RH click [Troubleshoot compatibility] and chose windows XP (which had been fine) no luck so I tried windows 98 compatibility - that worked!
