Meekal:

I also love the liquify function but these days am not able to work with it and constantly getting problems with it. That's why now I am thinking to get pmi certification  and now preparing for 70-297 and 70-291 exam. Why dont you check it out?

This is SPAM, of the undesired type, And so is this person's other post.

Administrator: Can you please do something with this (Meekal) user? Thank you.

X5 partially solved this by having KPT as a registration incentive. I said partially because it is still not organically part of the software.

Who said I can't DRAW?

Some things definitely reflect a lack of development, others reflect patent issues and development is just not possible in that environment.

It takes a legal team to understand where the limits are. Liquidify is a tool inside Adobe PS. If Adobe don't have some patents that cover at least some sections of that I'd be surprised. When it comes to patent trolls Adobe is right up there with the best.

My personal position is you use the software that does the best job. If that means using more than one program sobeit.

I've never heard anyone from Corel say, 'oh we just can't do that because it's covered by a "sue you it you try" patent' but those patents do exist.

The trick here is for Corel to have enough original ideas that they have leverage to make trades.

I was looking into this, not because I need warping images that often myself, but because a lot of people in other forums ask about that function.

At first I thought you could use the  Envelope tool in Draw, but that does not affect bitmaps. Of course developing the Envelope tools to affect bitmaps would solve the problem, but it won't happen in the next two years or so.

So I checked  what's available in Photo-paint and there you have the Mesh Warp filter. It vould be useful sometimes, but it's biggest drawback is you can't move the nodes at the edges which limits the usability a lot.

Then I checked the KPT filters I believe I got as a registration incentive sometime. There are only six filters included in the incentive package, but the help file lists 24 filters, among them KPT Projector which should be suitable. The description reads: "The KPT Projector filter lets you use warping effects to create 2D perspective distortions and 3D transformations on source images. You can also create infinite planar tiling at any angle and you can use anisotropic light filtering."

Now if I go to Corels website, the KPT filters are listed for £ 75 (equals USD 140) but the thing is that only five filters are listed in that package, two of which are included in the incentive package. So where have the other 19 filters, including KPT Projector, gone?

Lars,

KPT Projector is included in the "registration incentive" you get for registering CorelDRAW X5. Just checked my installation to make sure.

Good then. Are all 24 filters included or just a subset?

I don't know when I got mine, but I think it was some bonus of some sort. It only contains five filters. Or do they split them up so you get a few for each version you buy and register?

I also checked the listing on Corel.com and there only six filters are mentioned. Do you happen to know where you can buy the whole collection of the 24 filters?

Lars,

I covered all the included "utilities" that you get with X5 in a recent blog post.

There are 23 of the KPT filters included in the registration incentive. I believe the package you are describing with only a few is one that came for registering Draw 12.

I have no idea if there is a way to purchase the filters separately. If you are planning to get X5 anyways, no need to buy them.

Great!

The reason I picked up on this subject is that a bitmap warp filter, or a way to do that, is often requested in different Corel e-groups. I have had no really good answer to that before, but today I looked into it a bit more and found out that the KPT Projector filter listed in the help files would probably do what they are asking for. The Mesh Warp filter in PP doesn't cut it so that's why I figured the KPT filters could be the answer.

Corel have them for sale at http://store1.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod3430199&cid=catalog3550067&skuId=KPTCENGPCM&storeKey=eu&_requestid=75996  but the Projector filter is not listed there, only five filters are in fact listed there.

Could you check if the Projector filter is among those freebies you can download when registering X5? That could be a purchase incentive  for some people, if they only know what's included there.

I have written the Corel support about it, but I don't count on receiving a very informed answer.

I did check before posting my first answer and it is included.

Sorry, I apologize for not being focused when answering.

Anyway, it seems then that the only way to get the warp filter is to get it with X5 since it's not listed on Corels website. But, it might be in that KPT filter package, but not listed. We'll see if I get an answer from Corel support on that.

The information is for some reason better on the US site (I hate that, space on the web is free and there's nothing to translate since it's in English both places). So we now know that the package contains 24 filters for $100 or €100. You get it for free with CorelDraw X5.

The Squizz effect also works... if you have a copy from Draw suite ver 9... LOL

One nice thing: Win 7 64 bit, everything I've installed works so far. whew.

Yes I do, but not installed. Maybe I can post that in the other group though.

After playing around a bit with the KPT filters in X5 I have found the KPT GOO filter to be the best and very similar to the Liquidify tool inside Adobe PS.  The magnet brush inside the KPT GOO filter works great with an added bonus being able to create a animation movie of changes/steps along the way.
