    Text issues

Today I found out that Corel X4 has a terrible headache when trying to make a text bigger that it's point limit.

Below are 4 printscreens of what happend. Is there any way to correct this problem?

    Hey Felix

I know this won't help you at all, but I just tried to reproduce your problem and I can't.  Even opened the "Shaping" docker like you have on your sample with it set to "trim" (thought that might have something to do with it).

    Still works fine.

Yeah, well...will, I found out that it's working only in certain cases.

    Try thsis way:

    1. Open new blank doc.

    2. Zoom out at 3%

    4. Press F8 and write any text.

    5. After writing, press Ctrl+Space.

    6. Grab the text by one corner and make it bigger, over 3000pt *do not type it's measure, just pull it by one corner)

    7. Release it. You will notice that it shrinks back to it's default size.

    8. Ctrl+Q to convert to curves.

    9. Pull the "text" by one corner. And there you have it. The error.

Last night I saw your post and thought tha maybe my PC had a problem, for I've been working with some big files. But today I tried it again, and I got the same problem. Don't know if it's oly for X4 or for other Corel, too.

      All the best. Felix

Yup, only in X4. I just tried it on a Corel 11, and the text works great.

Later, when my collegues will come, I'll tell you if it's the same problems with Corel 9 and Corel X2

And it's a NO. The problem is only with Corel X4. With Corel 9 and 12 works just fine.

    Re: Text issues

CorelDRAW supports the Text point size upto 3000 pt. only. This is also with Version 12 & 13. If you try increase the point size by dragging one corner, it increases the size than 3000 points but sets it back to its maximum limit of 3000 pt on releasing the mouse button. If you try doing it with typing out the point size that is more than 3000 in the property bar, Corel warns you of invalid number & resets the text size to 3000 pt. The only error I realised in X4 is that Corel does not update the point size (i.e..3000 ) in the properties bar.I shall try to duplicate it and reconfirm.

Every thing same happens in Corel 12 & 13 except the error mentioned here.

And about the Ctrl Q, no issues here with my copy of X4 so cannot comment on it till I play around with the issue.

    Hey, Anand

i Know that it supports up to 3000pt.

But if you tray to make it bigger by pulling it from one corner, you can see that while you keep your finger on the left click, while dragging it, you can go way behind 3000. But the moment you release the click, the text doesn't go to 3000pt, but to 0,001pt. After this problem appears, undoing is useless. The text is no longer.

More of it, if you zoom out to 1% or 2%, write down a text and pull it from one corner while pressing ***, if  making it too big, the text  will disappear. If you undo this move, you will see the transformation squares around the text, but the text is missing.

And I tried this on one Corel 9, two Corel 11 and one Corel 12. The problem exists only on Corel X4

    Hi Felix

I am not able to duplicate the issue as you say. My copy of X4 does it well except the one I mentioned in earlier post. I am writing it to Corel. Let me see if any one else from the testers can duplicate it.

     Hello All.

I just went from x2 to x3(at work) & x4 next week at home. I use to have a similar problem at work. It was because someone in the dept. had a bad Template file with a bad default text setting. You might try disabling the Templates, and/or creating a new default text (artistic) style and set it as a default for new docs. Make sure all leading and kerning settings are ok. There is one more alternative... your default text setting might be set to be a bullet. Don't ask !!!!

    good luck, Chrz

    Re: Text issues

    Hey Felix,

I followed your directions to the letter and I still cannot duplicate your problem.  I end up with a REALLY large (over ten foot wide) object-converted text that looks just fine.

Sorry, I'm still no help for you.

    OK guys.

Maybe it's a problem with my PC. I'll see what I can do.

    Thanx again.
