I need some help…

The problem:

When I want to save in Corel Photo-Paint X3, I have a limited choice of file types to save as (CPT, PPF, TIF, PP5, PSD). I can’t save as BMP, JPG, etc.

But if I work on a BMP file from the start (if I open a BMP and work on it), then I have also the choice to save as BMP. The same is with JPG.

The same problem occurs when trying to export a file.

Also, I can not use the effects that are used on BMP (example: NOISE), when working on newly created documents.

 

Another thing… I’ve installed Corel X3 on another computer, and there is no problem with that one.

 

Check if you have loaded all the filters (import & export) while installing the suite. You can run the setup & repair the installation to add secondary & titery filters. Hope it works.

The thing is that when I check the list of active filters (Tools/Options/Global/Filters), I can see all the missing file types as active… I even put BMP and JPG as the first two (I moved them up) … And when I open an existing BMP file and work on it, when I save it, using SAVE AS, I can see all the missing file types… 

I am confused…

 

Do you think I should reinstall?

The usual cause of this is a file that is not in a colour model that can
be saved in anything other than the types you mentioned. The most
notorious example is that very few file types support Lab (L*a*b) mode.
Also many file types do not support CMYK or even 48 bit RGB.

If the file is of the type that Paul says in his thread, then I dont think reinstalling will solve the problem. See if you can post the image file here if possible.

I found the problem…

When I was creating a new image, the default color mode used was 48-Bit RGB. As it seems, this color mode doesn’t go well with BMP and JPG (I didn’t know this… ).

When using any other color mode, I’m not encountering the problem.
