Hi User (we all are here Big Smile)

Here's a link to a forum discussion about mesh fills... lots of tips.  You should pay special attention to Tatsyana's translated article (she's Russian and really quite amazing) on using mesh fills.

    Hope that helps!

    Just as an afterthought...

Your can type "mesh fill" in the search box at the top, right hand side of the page and it will give you many more threads on that same topic.

Hey, I have checked out that link you have put there actually before I made this topic, but it didn't go by step by step...I just began using CorelDraw last week, after reading everything I saw online the only thing I can do with the "mesh tool"  is to make a circle shape with the eclipse tool,  click on the mesh icon, adjust number of grids and then click on the circle shape...the result I got: NOTHING...=(

Do you mean you can't color the mesh? If so, you can color the mesh by dragging and dropping a color from the color palette, or select nodes or patches and click on a color on the color palette.

I'm using Draw 11, though, so I don't know if you can use the eyedropper to pick colors from a bitmap or not like in Adobe Illustrator. Apparently you can't do that in V. 11.

There are some videos on YouTube, if you have broadband Internet - search for "gradient mesh". There are more there for Adobe Illustrator than CorelDraw, but it's similar.

    Hey User,

The basics of the mesh tool are relatively simple.  Like PixelDust was saying, just drag a color into your mesh (or select a node and left click a color).  You should be able to read a fairly good tutorial in your help section that would show you how to do that.

Making something wonderful with the mesh tool will take a little longer to  learn... that's where those links will come in handy.

    Re: MESH FILL with CorelDraw

I'm currently working on a tutorial for use of meshfill, maybe it'll be splitted in several parts - such as "tips and tricks", "beginner" and "advanced". There are many different ways of working with meshfill, but its quite simple and fast to assign colors: select the node(s) and leftclick on the color on your palette. If you hold shift while leftclicking the color, you can "mix" two colors in small steps(Thats a very useful thing!). If you keep leftklicking the color in the palette for 3 seconds, a separate flyout will show you a new palette of variations of this color.

If you could be patient, you'll find that tutorial soon. I will announce it.

BTW: take a look whats possible with meshfill:

    Re: MESH FILL with CorelDraw

I figured out another way to pick colors from a bitmap when using the Mesh tool. You can't directly use the eyedropper and paint bucket to apply colors because the mesh becomes deselected when you use those tools.

Also, the mesh becomes opaque and you can't see your bitmap underneath once you make a mesh.

    Here's my workaround:

    1. Open the Color docker.

    2. Make a copy of your bitmap and move it over to the side. Then set up a second view window that's focused on the duplicate bitmap.

    3. Use the eyedropper to pick a color from the duplicate bitmap. This will be selected in the color docker.

    4. Switch to your original window and select the mesh with the mesh tool.

    5. Select your node or patch on the mesh, and click the "Fill" button on the color docker (which has the color you selected from the bitmap still selected).

I should make a feature request about this. It ought to be possible to use the eyedropper and paint bucket to select colors while leaving the mesh active. But for now, this is the only way I've been able to figure out. If there is an easier way, I'd be happy to hear about it.

    Hope that helps!

    Re: MESH FILL with CorelDraw

I was write a little article about this, in the book included in the box of CorelDRAW X4, and you can read it in the Welcome Screen, in the Learning Tab

Of course, Mesh fill is still not perfect, and need some improvement for next versions. But, anyway, you can find some workaround for your job. For example, you can add a color to the active palette, using the Eyedropper toll, and adding a color to another object. Later, you can appy this color directly and make it darker o lighter by pressing the Ctrl key and adding white or 100C100M100Y100K color (the last one in the Default CMYK palette)

    best regards for all
