Ventura 10 Installation on Vista x64 Systems
1. Create Temporary Directory
2. Copy Contents of the Corel Ventura 10 CD to the Temporary Directory in Step 1
3. Remove CD
4. Right Click on the Setup32.EXE file and choose properties
5. Set Compatibility to XP and check the “Run as Administrator” box.
6. Double Click the Setup32.EXE file
7. When Installation is complete, copy from the \TEMP\VenturaInstall\System32\Redist\MS\System directory the file called mfc42.dll
8. Paste the copied file into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Ventura10\Programs\ folder
9. In the same folder, find Ventura.exe and right click on the file.
10. Set to Win 2000 Compatibility
11. Launch Program by right clicking and choosing ‘Run as Administrator’.
12. Exit Program after it has completely launched
13. Return to Ventura.exe file, turn off compatibility.
14. The Program should behave normally.
This should work. I have tested it on two systems so far and got Ventura running on both. On one DBP was installed with Ventura and the other DBP was installed after Ventura. I have not tested fully Database Publisher yet. Have fun and good luck. Thanks to Barry Heil for the missing link.

Good work, Rikk & Barry. It's good to know Ventura will be covered if I wind up running an x64 system.
thank-you for the tips on getting ventura running on vista64.....i just installed vista64 and installed and using ventura based on the advice i found on this fourm....no problems so far .... one thing you don't have to do is copy the ventura cd onto the hard drive ..... just right click on setup on the cd and change the compbatability to xp and run as admin....and carry with the installation

Rikk, did just as you described, and as I saw elsewhere in this thread. I had to first install Ventura 8 as my copy of Ventura 10 was an upgrade. Ventura 8 installed successfully, but when I followed the same procedure for Ventura 10 (ran as administrator with compatability set to Windows 2000 and also tried Windows XP SP2) but setup32.exe would get to the point of looking for a previous version of Ventura, and then crashed with an error in ntdll.dll. Any thoughts.
Before finding this thread I had contacted Corel tech support (e-mail), but have not received a response yet.
Thanks,
Dan
For the geeky-techy in the crowd, I can report, although there was little doubt, that the program will install and run on Vista 64 Bit SP1 running under Boot Camp on a Mac.
My version only has mfc40.dll but I get the same problem on subsequent runs. I wonder why I have a different library?
Found it, needed to read more posts. Having trouble with fonts. Minion Pro open type font does not print to Adobe PDF although Minion LT ttf file does. Anyone else noticed this?
Should have expanded this to say got V10 working in Vista 64 as suggested but the font problem may force me to use Quark although I have been using Ventura since it was first released by Xerox in the 80s. I have created hundreds of very long documents, books and computer systems specs with it and could not wish for a better program. Any thoughts on the problem wioth open type fots would be welcome
Hello at all, verify working (with 2000 compatibility and mfc42.dll copy)... in WINDOWS SEVEN ULTIMATE 64 RC at july 2009... so far so good... X5, X6... Corel Graphics Arts XX?

After griping about the inability to even get the install to start after following Rick's instructions due an an ntdll.dll error, I finally wised up and started from scratch. It seems in coping the Ventura install disk to my hard drive, I must have missed one or more files. How I did that I don't know. But when I deleted the directory and recopied, everything worked exactly as described. Haven't used much yet, just tested, but all seems well. Also, I did not have to copy the mfc42.dll file as described. Thanks for providing the instructions, next time, I'll be more careful. Thanks, Dan

Spoke too soon. I did have to copy the mfc42.dll file. Should have tried running it a second time before I replied. Still, once I stop arguing and follow directions, things do work.
So Rikk, how did this work out? I am thinking about getting a 64-bit OS, but really need Ventura 10. Thanks.
