    Cut Contour Printing

My Cut Contour lines at are printing rather than cutting. This does'nt happen all the time and me and my boss cant recreate something that makes it happen consistently it it seems like it just happens with random files at random times (is that possible). Anyone have any suggestions that might be able to fix this?

    What cutter are you using?

If Roland with Versaworks, then you should see marching ant path in Versaworks for Cut Contour line.

    Re: Cut Contour Printing

Were using a Roland SP-300V Printer/Plotter with I think just a standard windows driver. We have a set color for "cut contour" but sometimes the printer prints the line rather than cuts it.

    Hi K,

Perhaps load versaworks, it appears it comes with your printer. Then you can see what'll print and if your cut contour line is going to cut as expected. You can also control some extra things such as vacuum strength, heaters and knife pressure in VW. For ex, I've printed direct on light magentic roll stock for fridge magnets by turning off heater and vacuum.

    Re: Cut Contour Printing

I have Flexi Sign Pro and Corel 1 and Versa Works rip with a sp540v. Cannot get Flexi EPS files to print right all the time so I want to start using Corel but have tried most of the stuff on here with hairlines and such and just get a blotchey line with no "marching ants" What is the procedure for a cut contour in Corel?

    Re: Cut Contour Printing

If it's intermittant, where it works sometimes, and doesn't others, it sounds like you mave have the cut path layered incorrectly.  If the cut path is behind a layer with transparency, it will get rendered as a bitmap in the RIP instead of being left as a vector.  I suggest converting any objects with transparency (and their backgrounds) to bitmaps, and making sure the cut path object is the top object in the design.

I think that in ver 11 you can open attached palette, and see a red swatch at end. assign to outlines you want to cut.

ensure that it shows up as sep. plate in print preview, named CutContour.
