When trying to do an Area Capture with the Editable Marquee, I get the little zoom-in window, but it doesn't respond to my mouse clicks--no marquee, no accept, nothing. I suspect this has to do with my ATI card, as fooling with the acceleration settings solved some other problems, but don't know what to try next. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your reply.
Paul McGee:About 80% of the time is responds normally, the remaining 20% can drive you around the bend.
That's for darned sure! I found on my machine, at least, a simple <ESC> will cancel the capture, but it's NEVER in the mood to respond correctly with area captures. Window and menu captures always work, though.
Hi technotrope, try uncheck the Show Editable Marquee, that sometimes help, it's a finding by Yani, not mine

Thanks for the reply, Finn. However, this doesn't seem to make any difference. Guess I'll have to reload version 12 JUST so I can capture. LOL
Testing my memory now. But I did think this one had been resolved.
Where the code was reworked for 'what the font' it works perfectly. But the original code for normal stuff had an issue. I don't remember all the details and the DB for bugs got messed with by QA to add designer so I don't think I can view the origninal error report. But I can say the original error was reported in detail and confirmed.

Yes it's been reported and verified. Insane was how I described the interaction. It is some form of memory leak as it will work (sometimes) correctly initially but degrades to insanity. You end up with the selection being a 1px square. Similar code is used by Text / What the Font and that works correctly. But capture on it's own when you try to use a selection mask is loopy.
It's been said that the issue has existed for a few versions. Seems it has slipped through the net.
Just had a quick look I think if you turn "Show Editable Marquee" OFF then it works fine.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the "Show Editable Marquee" setting doesn't seem to affect the problem. Absolutely nothing I try seems to make the slightest difference.
What I said is the only known issue. This might be something new. I suspect it is all the same problem but causing differnet effects.
Try...
Text Menu // What the Font
That brings up an identical dialogue that works 100%. If that doesn't work then it's definately a different issue.
Thanks, once again, for your quick reply.
The first couple of times I tried the "Text Menu // What the Font," I received a message to the effect that "This hotkey is already used on this system. Please choose another." Finally, I rebooted the machine and started only Corel. This time, choosing this menu item gave me a "target" cursor, no marquee, no zoom window, and no response to any mouse or keyboard buttons except the <EXC> key. ARGH!
Yea that's another issue from memory.
If you have opened Corel Capture then What the Font from Text fails and if you look in processes you find two versions of it running in conflict.
There is no zoom windows when you go in via Text // What the Font so that part is correct. But you should be able to draw a Marquee.
So what you have found is a new issue. Best you list all your system attributes so QA can review it correctly.
