OK Guys I have Windows XP SP2 with firefox 3 and every time I try to install my Corel X3 I get an error that the installation was interrupted.

The install starts and then for some reason a .htm file is opened with my firefox (with an error saying it cannot open such a file) and then I get the error....

I had the same problem installing real player last week and I just gave up. My firefox tries opening setup files for some reason.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

How do I fix this?

THANKS!!

PS: the file it tries to open is container.htm when corel tries to search for upgrades...

Kill your antivirus program -- particularly if it starts with the letters n o r t.

I have AVG, how would that make windows try and open an htm file instead of running it in the setup files?

This is driving me crazy LOL

Ahh, AVG which I use myself. Try killing the "resident shield" component while installing ANY program (virtually all programs recommend suspending A/V while installing.) I can't recall if I suspended AVG during my last install or not.)

As for the HTML screen, regrettably IE is used to assist a great many functions in far too many programs programs, including CDGS these days. Buried in the fine print somewhere it actually lists IE7 as being a requirement, but I have never encountered a problem with IE6 being the only browser from Willy on this system (I use FireFox for everything except the implicit use of IE by programs, and for occasional visits to Willy). Some versions of IE7 are known to screw up some other programs I use, so it is banned from this system.
