    SPAM because of coreldraw.com ???

     Hi
    1.  I used to get thirty or forty spam messages in spite of a Spam filter.
    2.   I changed my email address.
    3.   No more spam for three months.
    4.   I joined coreldraw.com
    5.   The spam has returned.  They know my new email address and even my name (Phil)

CONCLUSION:  This site is not secure.

    Phil

I have been active on this site for over a year. I have not changed my email address. I receive fewer than 10 spams per month. None of them come to the email address I use here.

Conclusion: your conclusion is premature ;-) I would look for other sources causing the spam.

Same experience here Rikk. Surely Phil need to check other sources of spam.

Re: SPAM because of coreldraw.com ???

I changed my email address (new ISP) in February for the first time in ten years, while phasing out the old ones.

I did NOT give the new one to ANY groups or post it anywhere.

I did send it to about 20 of my regular contacts. Within half an hour of doing so my first spam email (on that address) arrived. Followed by an ever increasing number, to the point where I now get about ten times as much spam as real messages on that address (even more of course, on my old, being phased out addresses.)

My current true email address has never been publicly posted anywhere, except fully disguised. And no, the disguise is not "@nospam" which I'm sure every email harvesting program knows to discard. I doubt that harvesters identify and discard my current disguises. Besides which the spam started arriving long before posting any messages from my new, disguised address.

Of course the real disgrace on spam at this time is that over on CNEWS Ventura group, Corel Corp have refused to block hundreds of obscene messages, all from one particular "non person", and all sent from one particular server registered in the Netherlands, for ten days now. There are hundreds of them there now. Any spam filter would have blocked them. It is a DISGRACE to Corel that nothing has been done to stop those messages advertising child pornography. Corel have been informed directly and indirectly about this ten days ago by several people.

     Hi
I must conclude that it is not the fault of this site.
So how in the world did they get both my email address and my name.  I guess that they must be able to listen in to internet traffic when I sent out a few emails telling people my new email address.
I also wonder what they hope to accomplish with all that SPAM.  Does anyone actually ever buy anything from a SPAM message

There has been a significant influence on penny stocks by Pump and Dump spam (spam promotes a worthless stock by saying it will increase next week by 5 trillion percent--get in now!!. The promoters have profited mightily as their spam PUMPS the stock by 75% at which time the promoters dump a;; their shares and the stock goes to almost zero.

There have been huge results from  all the phishing spam. I can't even count how many times I have been ORDERED to submit my banking information immediately to pay for my Google Ads.

The trouble is that little Suzy, who pays the bills from Mom's French Fries store panics and does submit that information--to the fake website.

And hardly a day goes by when some variant of Nigerian scams does not hook a victim.

Spamming and Scamming is a HUGE "business," mostly controlled by organized crime.

As long as you enter the email in the private field only in your profile on CorelDRAW.com, it is kept confidential (not even other members can see it). If you enter it in the public email field, it is visible to everyone, including spam robots who go through the various sites to get email addresses for spamming.

Spam... never open it, a single linked image can confirm you exist when it's downloaded. NEVER unsubscribe.

Curiously I was getting 150 messages a day, I just couldn't care less, it just gets sorted by Outlook. That's now down to about 10. And I've don't nothing... so I can only conclude that efforts being made to put offenders in jail must be working. There have been some pretty high profile cases in the US.

Re: SPAM because of coreldraw.com ???

I had my mail id set in public till I realised the threat of spam from Gerards post. But fortunately I had no increase in spams I received since I put my id here in public. So I can say there is no one here who's getting the address for the spamming, at least till date.

BTW I have removed my mail Id from Public on this site. Just as a precaution.
