Have you sorted this Andy as it's difficult reading this post to see exactly what the problem is.

Seems to me Gérard that we need some sort of standard form that forces full disclosure by asking questions or bug chasing becomes 'can you tell me...'

We need something like a 5 tab at the top in edit mode. Or an adaption of the code that generates a quote to slap in a table with the required fields.

You could even wack in a bit of JavaScript. You can make JS work without any changes to the currect code.

You have this now...

<div class="CommonFormField">

<input id="ctl00_ctl00_bcr_bcr_PostForm_ctl04_TagsSubForm_ctl00_Tags" type="text" size="70" name="ctl00$ctl00$bcr$bcr$PostForm$ctl04$TagsSubForm$ctl00$Tags"/>
<button onclick="Telligent_Modal.Open('/utility/TagSelector.aspx?TagEditor=ctl00_ctl00_bcr_bcr_PostForm_ctl04_TagsSubForm',400,350,null); return false;">Select Tags...</button>
</div>

For 'select tags'. You could just override the display and add 'Insert diagnonsitcs Form'.

 Hugh, I forwarde to It and this was the reply

" Symantec and any other AV program have been known to affect certain programs when installing them because it will catch files it might not like in the install process. So yes I have had to disable Symantec during an install and some patches but once theyre installed you would re-enable Symantec and all is good."

 Hugh, what is your opinoin of this statement?

Thanx

Andy:

That is the way things are supposed to work. But, in my experience, Symantec has been the worst of the lot of AV applications. (And that is just my experience/opinions, which may be biased.)

(After doing a lot of embedded software development, in my past life, I have been up against Symantec on those machines that I had to use for cross development. Most of the time, we [the company division] ended up disabling the network/server version of Symantec until another AV was utilized. I know that this experience is not related to Corel, but I am also drawing upon others, who have reported install problems and AV software. Even a case or two when the AV interferred with the running of Corel.)

Try, just for a day, disabling the AV on your system and see if there is any difference. And if there is, document the procedure to demonstrate the difference(s) and then get IT to watch as you go through, step by step, with and without AV activated.

If there are no differences (with or without disabling Symantec) then no harm done, it's just that arena (AV) is eliminated as probable cause for your problems.

 I'll go with Hugh on this one. We dumped Symantec years ago due to its bad habit of interfering with other (legit) programs. It got so bad that the production department took to referring to it as Sabotage-it.

That said, I don't know as I've ever heard of Symantec causing the number and range of problems you've encountered. I'm willing to bet when it's all sorted out (and hopefully it will be) it will wind up being a combination of things; each adding its own bit of 'poison' to the mix.

Best of luck.

Bob

 Bob, I am passing on correspondance pertaining to the AV issue to IT.and vice versa. Lol It seems as though this may take a while to resolve. Im still waiting on IT to get back to me with Hugh's opinon. It all seems very pheasble to me aswell, though, I have never had a problem with symantec apps in the past. There is a first time for everything and at this point Im willing to try anything.Party!!!

Regards,

 Andy

LOL, I agree, Hugh.

I liked Symantec AV in the mid 90's, but it is so bloated and resource depleting these days i won't touch it now.

Hugh Johnson:
Try disabling your Symantec AV.  There have been many instances of that application messing up things, not only Corel, but others, also.

Totally agree with that.
I quit using Norton since 2 years ago after so much faith in it in the past.
Nowaday, I can hardly find anyone still using Norton among my IT friends.

I just read a business article yesterday about Symantec. They claim they
won't ship their 2009 iteration until it is the fastest, less resource
intensive product out there. I'll let others use it for a long while before
I consider switching back to Symantec. I used to love their products and
switched away a few years back. So far, no regrets at all.

The other evil product is Nero CD Burner.

It likes to put hooks into everything too.

I rarely use Nero although it comes with my burner.

What's so bad about it?

Hugh, I haven't used a Symantec app for over 10 years. They've been real
crap for even longer than that. And as for Symantec messing up installs?
I've seen so many complaints about Symantec screwing with app installs on
Adobe's site it's a wonder anyone still uses their (Symantec's) apps.

The only problem I know of with NERO is the In-CD portion, which is one of those things that can really, really screw up many programs. I use NERO on both systems, WITHOUT IN-CD installed and no problems that can be traced to NERO. But the In-CD component is well known as a troublemaker (big time!--especially with Adobe video editing programs.) BTW I think In-CD only comes with the full version of Nero; if that is correct there cannot be a problem with the bare bones version that comes with almost all CD/DVD drives.

I use Nero almost daily and have yet to track it to any problems I have.
