Re: Brush problem in Corel X3 (PhotoPaint)

I am having this problem in the X4 PhotoPaint. I upgraded from ver 9 to the X4. Here are some other things I note about this. The problem shows up whenever I try to use the Eraser Tool, Red Eye Removal Tool and the Paint Tool. All through tools start the jumping cursor problem. It is interesting that now I realize you don't even have to click in the image to see the cursor jump. When I move the cursor over the tools or toolbars around the image, as soon as you pass into your image section you will see the cursor jump without having to actually begin using it.

I have tried 3 different mice and the touchpad without any help. Reinstalling several times didn't work nor did the F8 on startup tip help. Since others have the same problem in various setups, I am glad to know it isn't just something wrong with my particular system.

It sure seems to be a Vista+Corel issue and I am quite upset. I spent a lot of money to get a software package that was Vista certified for my new Vista HP laptop and now there is a major bug that really affects my work. I have to use another image editor as this is entirely unworkable. I am not happy. I've been using Corel since vers 3 and I love it. But this is dampening my opinion.

How can we let Corel know about this?

I saw this too: when you cross the border of image work area, bth from and to tools around, mouse pointer jumps too. But I think I am seen this before somewhere, so I didn't report... My mistake.

So now we have 3 Corel versions not worked, so this gets us close to Corel issue... The package are big, which does it unstable and no way to test it on each combination of platfomrs and OS versions...

Please somebody, try to contact Corel staff here on  http://www.corel.com/ site, there must be some way to ask customer support, and point them to this talk. Ask them to show this to developers, so they will know where to look.

One other thing: WHo of you uses 3:4 screen format and who uses the wide format 9:16? I use the latter.

And yes it affects brushes, clone tool eraser, everything.

I am using 17" laptop with a widescreen format. I have tried every resolution setting available for my system all way down to 800x600 and it does it at every setting.

I tried using Corel.com's support area where you are supposed to be able to email a question, but I can't get it to send it. It keeps hanging up at the end of the process. Has anyone else tried to do this?

I really think we now have enough evidence of the problem for a substantial response from Corel. So, how do we transfer this debate to Corel?

Re: Brush problem in Corel X3 (PhotoPaint)

    Hello,

I have 2 news to share with you.

First, I had possibility to test with wide screen laptop, X3 and WinXP. No such defect.

Second, I just find, that an Adobe application (Flash 8) and Vista "almost" have the same problem. When I try to resize windows on workarea, the "grab-mark" was shown at same top left distance from mouse pointer, what I saw in Corel X3. But it "hits" the mark only, didn't jumps, mouse slides smooth and does his job...

So I still think that our problem are created by combination of Vista drivers and Corel issue...

Can anybody call to Corel headquarter in Canada ? I am located to away...

I just sent an email over at corel.com with a link to this thread. Finally I was able to get it to go through. Unfortunately, due to the weekend, I probably won't get any response until next Tues or Wed. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Thanks so much. I was too occupied with other business this week to pay attention to the problem. I emphasise once again that I have used Corel since 1991, I think it was version 1.15 or such and have never had this serious disfuncionality. If this cannot be rectified I will need to switch from Corel to other software after a 17 year relationship with the company and its software.

Re: Brush problem in Corel X3 (PhotoPaint)

Add Corel X4 w/SP1 to this list with all the above symptoms.   Running Vista 64bit w/SP1, 22" wide screen (1680x1050), Nvidia Gforce 7600GT.  Additionally, thought this may not be an issue, I use a wireless Logitech mouse (have tried several different mice).  Not exactly sure at what point this got broken but worked fine when Corel X4 originally installed.  This problem has arrisen very recently.  Have tried F8 workspace reset, complete uninstall and reinstall.  Something is stepping on a driver somewhere... just don't know how to find out which one nor how to fix it.  I did install and uninstall Macromedia Flash 8 Pro on this machine.  Did uninstall/reinstall of Corel after Macromedia was uninstalled.  Have use several registry cleaners but as we all know, there is still Macromedia left in the registry.

Corel X3 w/SP1,2 &3 running WITHOUT problems on my WinXP (32bit) w/SP3 machine, 19" no wide screen, nvidia Gforce5200GT.  I have installed and uninstalled Macromedia Flash 8 Pro, installed Adobe Flash CS3 Pro.   Have not install Adobe Flash CS3 on vista box..

Hoping someone will post a solution.. Seems Corel isn't acknowledgeing the problem

PS - I too have been a loyal Corel user since ver. 1 first release.
