I received an artwork in PDF which was exported from Freehand.
When I import the PDF into CorelDraw, some objects (vector objects, pictures) are missing.
When viewing the PDF with Acrobat Reader, everything is in place.
What could be the problem?

Sometimes certain items (or, indeed, ALL items!) are hidden under something because the import filter is far, far, far from perfect. It is always worth taking a look in wire frame view--surprises sometimes await! If the surprise is a good surprise, you can then delete spurious objects which are hiding the real objects.

But, generally the way to get a valid file is to write a PS file from Adobe Reader, being sure to specify PS level 2 in BOTH places (the printer driver and the Adobe Reader proper). (Of course font issues are yet another matter, but in general you will get better results by using Adobe Reader to create a PS file and then importing that.)

Hi Paul!

How do I create a PS file using Adobe Reader?

Install, if not already there, a Postscript printer, with the "printer"
being a file, or, if there is a PS printer (real) already there, use it
or install an "instance" which is a print to file. In either case, it's
best PPD to specify during printer (printer instance) install is the
Adobe Acrobat PPD (5).

PS driver for XP:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=44&platform=Windows

The "Adobe PPD":
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=204&fileID=204

BTW the Adobe PS driver is joint with MS. As Adobe do not seem to have
one listed for VISTA I assume it is already there in VISTA (anybody care
to correct/confirm this re VISTA--I am staying as far away as one can
get from VISTA).

As per my original post, when writing a PS file from Adobe Reader for
use in CDR, it is essential that PS level 2 be specified in BOTH places:
in printer properties, AND in PRINT > advanced > Language. CDR only
understands PS levels 1 and 2.

Adobe PPD
