The entire suite was working fine on Vista. However, recently, I have to reinstall the application everytime my computer starts.

here is a screenshot of the error.

Can someone tell me why this happens and how I can fix?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

This error means that there's a file (or files) missing that Draw/Photo-Paint need in order to run.

I suggest you first try repairing your install and see if that works (done from within the control panel).  If this does not work, please let me know.

 Hi Scott,

Did the repair and it doesn't work.

I also did a clean istall of Vista...same thing is happening.

Installed Service Pack 1 for X4 and..... no change.

I wonder if its some other problem.

X4 worked well upto a few days ago....

 Hi,

Can you check your Programs folder (..\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\Programs) for these two files: DRPCUNLR.dll and PHPCUNLR.dll, and let me know if they're there?

I will check a bit later!

can this be a problem with the original installation files?

My disc has alot of small scratches?

It's possible, but too early to say.

There's definitely something wrong with at least one file in the Programs folder, but I don't know what has caused it..

 Hi Scott,

It works fine now.

The problem could have been the installation disc. I cleaned it ...tried to get rid of the scratches and installed once again.
haven't installed service pack 1 yet but will do that soon.
I must thank you for taking your time to reply to the post and trying to solve this problem for me.
I guess thats why the coreldraw forum is one of the best.

Thank you once again.

Adrian

Hi Scott,

I'm receiving the same error message and I am missing those two files.  My install is from the Wilcom Embroidery Studio e1.5.  I receive this error launching embroidery studio or when trying to launch X4 by itself.  I'm running WinXP Pro SP2.  I'm going to try to repair the corel part via control panel - add/remove.  Beyond that - what else should I be doing to fix this?

Thanks,
 - Ruth Ann

Hi,

If the repair doesn't work, you may want to uninstall and try re-installing, making sure nothing is running (ie: virus scanning program, or anything else) during the install.

Scott

Make sure the Protexislicensing service is running.  I had disabled it not knowing what it was and this is what caused the error.

I have been having the same problem...Only my install had been working for months then suddenly stoped working with the same error.

I did a "repair" from the disk...same results

I did an "install" from the disk...same results

I did a full uninstall, restarted the computer then a full install from the disk...same results

I did a full uninstall, restarted the computer, downloaded the program from your website, did a full install (entering serial number)...same results

The two files above are in the appropriate folder with both files having the same date of October 30, 2008 the same size of 8.28kb

I tried running the program with Norton Internet Security turned off with the same results.

ps:  I am using WIndows XP Professional (fully patched)

run the program in compatibility mode, choose windows xp sp3 or sp2 if sp3 isn't an option.

i'm using windows 7 and had the same problem, once i changed it to compatibility mode it ran fine.

EDIT - as it turns out, there was another thing that i tried before what i mentioned above and i had forgot about it.

go to start > run > type in "services.msc" without the quotes > find and double click on "FLEXnet Licensing Service" > confirm that the service is running, if it is not then switch the Startup type to Automatic > Apply > click Start to start the service > click OK and close the Services window > try running Corel again.

good luck

I just installed X4 on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and I get the same error message but with error code 38.  I've tried repairing with no luck.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and no luck.  I've checked the DLL files mentioned above and they're there.  I've tried compatibility mode and no go.

I'm SOL at this point.  Any other ideas?  I need to get this installed and working please.  I have the retail DVD.  Thank you.
