    Re: Fonts in different languages

If you need any specific fonts, typefaces that only those language´s alphabet has, then you must see which fonts (letters) on your own computer, that you can use, that have those specific typefaces. Its very area specific. For example me being Swedish, Å, Ä, Ö is very Swedish letters. And they are the last fonts, letters, in the Swedish alphabet.

Or are you only after to find out on how to WRITE a specific phrase in those languages?
Then you need to say what you like to say. Write

So one need to know what you are after.

    Re: Fonts in different languages

There are very few OpenType fonts that are truly OpenType--that is contain anything more than western characters, or, conversely, a base set of western characters and perhaps ONE other alphabet such as Korean, Chinese, Turkish, or Japanese etc..

The exceptions that I am aware of are Arial Unicode (comes with MS-Office or can be purchased by itself). Microsoft Sans Serif, Times New Roman ---opentype--- have some extra languages. ISTR seeing one other recent font from MS (probably part of th MS Office "compatibility pack") that had a fairly comprehensive language set,

In any case, though, you may well have to wind up with mix-and-match fonts when using multiple languages. The key boarding problems mentioned in Stefan's post can be circumvented for short phrases by entering the Unicode value for each character or, better, copying and pasting using the Character Map program in Windows (you can build the entire phrase there by double clicking each desired character.)

(BTW while Arial Unicode has many languages in it, it is positively the ugliest font I have ever seen, and comes in only one weight -- "ugly"!

Paul, you are as always a great source of information!!

I dont know if you have seen the movie about Helvetica.
    It is actually called "Helvetica".
Its well done, fun and interesting movie, documentary about Helvetica, the typeface/font.

If you or others havent seen it, then try the videostore and rent it, or try this YouTube link. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=helvetica+movie&search_type=&aq=0&oq=helvetica

To really see the impact Helvetica have had and still has is increadible. And Erik Spiekermann mention CorelDRAW Smile
