Sounds like your file is loading with excess styles and views. I’ve covered this problem and solutions in my blog.

If you have a fresh installation, there's no problem, but if you open a file with several color styles and saved views,, you will import all this "extra sftuff" to your computer. You must open the Color styles docker and the View manager docker, then delete all. Fortunately, X6 solve this problem, because X6 automatically delete all color styles from older versions

Are the files that you are working on located on your computer or a network location?

Are the files located on a network drive? If so be sure to list the IP address as the secondary DNS. in your network configuration.

Yani, I am having the same issue with all files in Core Draw X4 opening slow!!!!! very slow!!! I even reformat my hard drive thinking that something had gone seriously wrong and reinstalled the software. Running on Intel 945 platform with Quad speed intel processor 2.65 and 4 meg of ram.

The problem is that my machine worked fine couple of months ago with the software. It seems that the damage was done with an update or a driver.

Any ideas?

Well, is not only for X4, I hear about this since v.12 with an illegal copy of CorelDRAW that accumulated "Views", and "Color styles" (the problem with the other "Styles" come from older versions) but if you opened a file from a modified version, also was affected even if the program was original. Same happens on X3, X4 and X5, altough the original program has not problem and not cause this problem of speed. Of course I know this problem exist and is real. I receied a file from one user with the same problem some time ago, it takes several minutes for copy/paste a simple rectangle. But if I opened teh file on other computer, copy/paste is instantaneous. Maybe is a conflict with other software (ie Acrobat 8.x), or with the font database (uninstall Font Nvifator must solve it). Seems that is not only one problem or only one reason, there're different reasons

HAHA, what a lazy forum: months later we might have found the issue hunh Dennis?

Try transferring the files directly on the desktop screen and open them in there (or load them anywhere on the local hard drive on the computer)--does it fix the lag you are getting? And I would be weary of running a project off of a flashdrive or other storage mediums other than a hard drive (not to say you are).

Please tell us if the culprit is the network or not!

Ariel: There is a definite issue with Corel X4 that has not been solved. I have clearly illustrated this on more than one occasion. Although, your recommendations are valid ways to potentially fix wam's issue.

I have been an advocate for Corel for a number of years; however, I am also an advocate for quality products over quantity of products. Corel will refuses to fix the issue and even worse, refuses to acknowledge that there is an issue. Corel then claims it much be the user's fault. I completely empathize with wam's sentiment.

Wam: is this happening on newly created projects or older versions of corel formats? If it is older, delete all the guidelines and then copy/paste your work into a DIFFERENT corel window with a blank spreadsheet--this is one way I have worked around my files that are in question (simply resaving with a different filename/version did nothing in my experience).

Are your files located on another computer?

If so, make sure that the IP of the the computer that is storing the files is listed as a secondary DNS. This resolved my issue of corel taking forever to process.
