Clone Tool Reset

Okay so the issue is my Photo-Paint clone brush is messed up. It has been reset with F8 so I know it is back to the default. When you first click the Clone tool it shows the circle cursor, and when you right-click the 2nd circle turns into a paint brush icon. I've never seen that in 6 years using Photo-Pain 12 and X4. Since a default reset doesn't work, I have no clue why this happens or what to do. It's nearly impossible to gauge where its going to paint with the clone because the cursor isn't a circle or square, just a picture of a paint brush heh. Any suggestions would be great!!

Font Size in template

I created a templae 1 inch high, 3 inches wide. I have set it to get one line of text input from a .csv file created in Excel.

The text input has been set to use Arial 22pt. Sometimes my line of text is too long and the input becomes truncated on start and end of its line. I have tried to change the text to a paragraph text and using fit text to paragraph frame with limited success. Sometimes it works ok, automatically downsizing the text to fit but often it wraps to a second line with isn't visible on my finished print. So, by trial and error, changing the text smaller and smaller until I can see the full line in a print preview and it will work. Tedious, tedious, especially when my list has over 50 items. (the print preview setup may show 6 across, 10 down.

Has anyone found a good way to downsize the text automatically to fit the template box? I want to have consistent output and if a short word or line fits the space I want it to use the Arial 22pt font, not stretch to fill the space available. However, if the word or line is too big to fit, I would like it to automatically shrink to fit the space. Help please.

Hi,

Can you please fix the "Nothing changed" error you often get when you try to combine curves? It has been here for several version now and also affects the shaping tools. After you close and restart the program, the curves are possible to combine/shape, but it's annoying and it's is clearly a bug.

Hello everyone.

I use above said application - full CAD version - since quite some time at work:
5.7.3 CE, together with Corel Technical Designer Suite X4.
I produce technical documentation, transportation industries. Most frequently, I use DE and Corel for production of exploded views, mainly from bigger IGES, CATPART and STEP files.

But a bunch of basically simple, 'daily usage'- type questions are still unanswered.

I'm wondering if there is any training offered specifically for it - accessible, both in terms of location, time and costs, from within the Netherlands? That might include web sessions or short Howto- tutorials to very specific questions.

Right now using DE still feels like using only 10% of its potential. Time is a huge issue; in simpler words, we don't have time here to spend days searching around / discussing on fora, exploring this tool via trial & error - or reading complex handbooks. I found a 5MB PDF <Deep_Exploration_user_ref_de_6.0.pdf> - nice start but still leaves too many questions open.

Grateful for any precise information!

Toolbar dropdowns do not work

On some Windows7 machines I'm finding the drop down flyout tools do not pop out at all, like the line tools button or rectangle tools. You can click and hold over them but the pop up with the other tools never displays. You can click on the black triangle on the lower-right corner or hold down, neither work. Was this ever a known bug with X4 on Windows7 PCs? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Hello all. I am experiencing some problems and was hoping for some help or discussion. First of all I cannot get Des X4 (Windows 7) to show "my templates" in the New from Template window. I have indexed, created a separate folder called My templates in my docs folder and created new .cdt files and deleted temp files all to no avail. However the templates (ansi, din, iso and mine) do show up under general and other but not in "My Templates" Even if I create a new template these do not show either.

Secondly I cannot get .pat Patterns to fill shapes at all. All other fill options work fine just pattern fills ??? I have the default patterns as well as 3 I have created.

Corel Designer X4 has stopped working...

I continue getting the error "Corel has stopped working and will close" and it just crashes. The system is Windows 7 Home Premium laptop w/ a 2.0 GHz Core2 Duo Intel w/ 4.0GB RAM. The bigger the projects get in file size and lines on the design the faster it crashes. It doesn't always backup properly either. I made sure to get the service packs and patches released from Corel installed so that's not the issue.

This PC is within the range of minimum requirements for sure, but it continues crashing. I went into Tools > Options and set the memory usage to 70% to see if that will stop the issue. There are no other corel programs installed so I don't feel it's a conflict with other Corel programs. What would be optimal PC specs to make sure large design DES files don't crash and what kind of video card specs are needed for bulky files? Thanks in advance!

Question about Object Data, CGM version 4, specifically the "Region" attribute

Hello.

I need to create CGM version 4 files for a customer who adheres to S1000D and S2000M specs. I only need to include two "grobjects" :

Name
Region

Name is easy.
Region is more difficult. The Value for the Region attribute is the object's x,y coordinates.

First, does anyone work to the specs S1000D and S2000M?
Second, does anyone use the Region attribute?
My reason for posting: Does anyone know how to auto-populate the value field for Region with x,y coordinates?

My goal is to hotspot item number callouts on figures within parts manuals. There are lots of them. And I must use the Name and Region attributes.

Batch Process Failure

I am no expert on batch process functions but I have found it just flat out doesn't work. I have a handful of .TGA files I wanted to convert to .PSD format. I created a batch process file. All it really did was open the image, copy a the alpha mask already drawn in the TGA file, paste it as a new object/layer, and delete the background layer so I'm left with "Object1" and that's it. When I try to run the batch file it does create a new object but brings back the "Background" layer. I have no clue where to go from here as there aren't any help files regarding this. If anyone can help I'd be in awe of your infinite wisdom.

Cant lock object

Trying to lock a couple of ojects, but I cant, the command is greyed out.

I am trying to lock six objects each of them is a group (3983 objects per group), and exactly the same (duplicated)

Two of them I can lock but not the rest.

Technical suite X4 same template on all pages

When I open a new file I choose new from template and then I choose the custom template I need to draw on. I would like to add pages, what can I do to obtain the same template?

Right now I am taking the scenic route by having the template I want on the first page, leaving it blank and making a copy on the subsequent pages to draw.

Is there a highway to get there?

Pattern Files

I deal with creating overhead property plats and landscape plans in Designer X4. The problem I have is there aren't any good patterns to use for the architecture and landscape industry. I have dealt with PhotoShop in the past and how you could import .pat files that would tile nicely. I googled a bit but came up empty handed. Are there any other people out there who create vector style patterns for stones, bricks, grass etc? It would be nice to be able to fill an area with a stone pattern. I found some AutoCAD files but the filter type was not supported. If nothing else, I need to know what kind of vector pattern files are supported. The typical F1 help files weren't much help in this department. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Problem Designer X4 with open type font

Hello,

our company use an special open type font created by linotype.

But in Desingner X4 I can't use all of the signs.

When I insert some signs, the font switches to another font. e.g. Arial Unicode MS, and when I will change the font our font is disabled.

The most of the others fonts are also disabled.

How can I solve the problem?

Custom Outline width?

Hi!

I am using Designer X4 on a daily basis and it is beginning to get on my nerves that Corel Designer doesn´t have any obvious way of letting me add custom permanent outline width´s in the dropdown.

I usually work with point measurement and would like to add 0.25 pt in the dropdown list. Instead of listing ALL available line widths in numbers, Corel chooses to have the thinnest option mentioned in letters, "hairline" (which equals 0.216 points = to thin for my customers printers).

The solution is to choose 0.5 pt from the list and then manually add a "2" in front of the "5", but when you do this xx times a day, you start to think that there would be an better more permanent solution for this!

I have manually scanned through any Corel-related *.ini-files on my harddrive to find a posibility to add a custom points value for outline width, but haven´t found any obvious place for this.

Does anyone know a solid solution for this?

Want to control bitmap type when exporting (using VB macro) to WMF

When we export a DES to WMF with embedded bitmaps in the source document and using the VB macro call ExportEx(), the bitmaps are saved as .BMP files. We would prefer to have the embedded bitmaps saved as JPG files.

Is there a way to do this?

And I am not a VB programmer so a few sample code lines would say a lot.

but if i use X4 ( export .*eps) .... weird... is Ok !!!

Technical Suite X4 - Solid Works

Hi,

I'm going to do some technical illustraition for our project over the weekend.

So I got Technical Suite X4 Student Version and I'd like to present our 3D-models in an appropriate way.

Unfortunately I discovered that it's not possible to import SolidWorks Objects into X4 ?! (Cause you need to pay for Deep Exploration CCE)

Can somebody help? I got Solid Works Student Version 10.

Furthermore I'd like some tips or tutorial on simple presentation strategies in Corel Designer Technical Suite X4 for my purposes.

Error Deep Ex to Corel Designer

Hello,

I use Corel Desinger X4 and Deep Ex CAD Edition 6.3.3.

To test, I installed X5 on my computer. Now I removed X5 from my system

After that I get an error if I transfer my 3D model from DE 6.3.3 to Desinger X4 over the function "Send to Corel Designer" and the process break down.

The error is already exist If I use DE 5.7 CCE

How can I solve the problem?

PDF export issue

When exporting a DES X4 file to PDF, all symbols are displaced a small, but very objectionable , distance to the left. My only fix has been to revert every symbol to objects.

Is there a better solution?

When acquiring geometric information on a shape. i.e area, perimeter. The units are in inches, centimeters, meters and millimeters. Is there a way to get theses in feet. I cannot find an option for this. I work with cubic feet and square feet not inches and metric .

Object Manager quirks

I've recently started using DES X4 and I'd like to stop the object manager from repeatedly expanding pages and layers which I want to stay collapsed. I think a related symptom is that the displayed page also switches without warning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Video Card Recommendations

I do some pretty graphic intensive 24x36" designs in Designer. I also dabble with SketchUp and other 3D programs. I've had DS12 and DSX4 crash on me because the files get too large to reopen them. And I've lost designs from it as well. I can get SketchUp to slow down pretty bad too. I'm looking for a good video card in the $140 and under range, preferably PCI-E w/ at least 1GB of dedicated GPU memory. Can anyone give me some suggestions based on what you've had success with? I have a pretty respectable PC (4GB RAM, 3.1GHz dual core, Nvidia 9600GT 512MB GPU) but this configuration isn't getting it done. I may switch to Win7 64-bit so I can up the RAM to 8GB since XP Pro only recognizes 3.6GB of RAM. I am open to suggestions if anyone is in a sharing mood!
