I upload my files and it gives me a zip with everything converted. Some of the images come out a little funky if they have bushes and trees in front of the houses but it saves me loads of time in comparison to doing it manually. Just my 2 cents!

Re: Photo to a Line Drawing?

Well, that's why I suggested using that Blackline macro, Matt

When you said lines, I took you literally

Stefans solution (which by the way can be done exactly the same way in Draw or Paint) creates more of a silhouette

Of course, You can fiddle with the original image before you do the conversion or edit the conversion in Paint to get less solidity but............

for me, it's not something I can always afford to do

Too many files come across my desk everyday to spend more time than needed to 'tweak'

I'm on my iPad now, if I get a chance in the morning I'll post a comparison of the 2 methods and you can see which one best suits your needs

Hi Matt,

This is the best that I could do within
PhotoPaint. A very long time ago, the results were a lot better.

What happened to TRACE in DRAW ? TRACE used
to work like magic a long time ago when it was a stand alone application,

. Anyhow, this is what I did:

1. EFFECTS > CONTOUR > FIND EDGES.

2. CONVERT TO GRAYSCALE.

Matt

You are welcomed,

Some things are so easy to use PhotoPaint to do for you. You could easily have a photo placed in a CorelDRAW document, then select it and click "Convert to bitmap/Edit bitmap in the property bar, do my suggestion, and after OK, click SAVE in File>Save in Photo-Paint, and it should open fine in CorelDRAW.

Everythign doesnt have to be done in CorelDRAW. Use whatever works for you.

My tip for you took less than 5 minutes.

Re: Photo to a Line Drawing?

Hmmm. I guess I hadn't figured out how to do it in CorelDraw.

Great solution, Stefan

but Matt you can do the same thing in Draw

why do you need to use PhotoPaint?

Why not using PhotoPaint? It depends on what the image is to be used for. In my work as illustrator and graphic designer its common to use use photos and make them an integrated part of an ilustration and design. That can be for so many different occasions. Be it a magazine illustration, Poster design, Book Cover, T-Shirt print and so forth. I could go on but you get the idea. :-D

Re: Photo to a Line Drawing?

Great solution, Stefan

I have been playing around but I haven't found a way to turn a color photo into a Black & White outline drawing in Corel PhotoPaint X5.

Can someone give me some advice how to do this?

Thanks,

Matt

Hell Matt,

This isnt so hard to do using Corel PHOTO-PAINT.

See attached image, a before and after.

Open a photo, in this case a motorbike.

Go to Image > Convert to Black & White 1 bit.

In the Dialog that opens, choose "LineArt".

Use the "Threshold" slider in the dialog to drag it to either less or more threshold.

Click ok.

Finished.

You can now take this image into CorelDRAW if you like and convert bitmap to vector using CorelDRAW Trace. Or simply use the image in PhotoPaint.
