thanks for that, that may be the missing component for me.

Sort of related to this thread, does anyone use the Object Cooridnates Docker? I had never even noticed it existed until Hendrik advised me about it in another thread. It is fantastic. Not only does it give you all the info you could want, but say you draw a straight line at an angle to your page. The Property Bar will show zero rotation angle because you have not rotated the line, you simply drew a line. The Object Coordinates Docker will show you what the angle of the line is. You can also change the angle to zero and either have the line rotate to a horizontal position, or a have a copy of it rotate to a horizontal position. There are loads more tabs and settings in the Docker, take a look if you are not already familiar with it.

Best regards,
Brian.

Re: Posisioning object on a page

Add the object origin to your property bar (see below)

and depending what positon you select you should have the Coordinates.

I get Cursor Position in the Status Bar and in the Detail Tab of the Object Properties Docker I get the position of the centre of a selected shape.
I already have the x,y position boxes on my Property Bar, but it shows 0,0 all the time. If I enter values into those boxes the active shape is moved and then the boxes go back to 0,0. Any idea how to get them to show position rather than movement?

what does Alt+F7 do and how do you disable "Relative Position", or are you saying that Alt+F7 disables Relative Position? I pressed Alt+F7, but it did not seem to do anything. Like the OP my x,y values only affect moving a shape, but do not show its position on the page.
