When i enable the print separation feature on the print screen, it doesn't allow me to enable the advanced settings to select different options i need to print half tones.  It is not highlighted after i click the print separation box.

You need a PS printer (driver) for the advanced tab to be functional.

If you don't have a postscript printer, you can use the built in  Device Independent Postscipt File driver that Corel provides.

You can then access the advanced settings, change your lpi and angles.......then print (save) as a .ps or .prn file.

Since you still don't have a ps printer or Rip installed to print those halftones, my advice would be to download Ghostscript & Ghostview (free).

You can then open that halftone file you made in Corel and print through GS/GV to any non-postscript printer.

Depending on the file you are working with, you also may be able to covert your file to a a greyscale bitmap, then change mode to black & white In the dialog box, choose halftone, and change the angle, lpi and dot type.

You won't need a ps printer for that method..............but it doesn't work well with all images, either. Again, depends on the specific file you're working with.
