Ok, everything was fine and suddenly i can't import .pdf files im getting the I/O read error, all the secured and non secured files, also when trying to paste a text  using Text Tool the program stopped working and it says windows is trying to check for solution and then it close the program !!!

also i tried to install some patches and update to my Graphic Suite X3 , im getting lot of error message like " No applicable product found , please check that this product update can be applied to the product you have installed"

Also " The apgrade patch can't be installed by the windows instaler service because the program to be upgraded maybe missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program, vertify that the program to be updated exist on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch "

by the way im using Vista as my OS, and the most important thing to me is to import the pdf, i don't have a full version of acrobat , and as i said there was no problem untill last 3 days , any help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could be anything under the sun by the sounds of it...

I think you need to solve the update issues first. Both VISTA and GS X3 should be working, and verified as so, on the latest patches and updates. GS X3 has a service pack that makes it work better with VISTA. To me, it's almost pointless to try to work with a broken tool, if it can be fixed.

The second thing is that the PDF might be of a "flavour" that won't import well under any circumstances and might require some fixing if you even get it to import. Best maybe to get somebody to save the pdf as some other "flavours" for you.

There are people on the Forums (Jeff Harrison in particular) who have worked extensively with pdf's and eps and AI files... I'm sure you'll be hearing from some of them soon. I work with pdf's quite often in CD but if I have a problem with one I'll just mess around with it 'til I get what I need out of it. Or, as I did the other day, booted up the Leopard-Vista intel iMac in Leopard and worked with a file to get an optimum fidelity result for the main image before finishing the job in CD X4 with a save as a CD X3 version as well.

Having said that I'm working with various computer systems that are fully updated with the latest patches and updates in the OS (but not SP3 in XP) and CorelDRAW. In my opinion that's the place to start... otherwise you could just be p*ss**g into the wind.

I uninstall and re-instal corel x3 , i also uninstall all the Adobe Acrobat from my pc and its not working, it might be conflicting with some program, i remember installing corel x4 yesterday and i had the same error message , that the program stop working so what i had to do is uninstaling the sql 2008 and it worked, but not the pdf importing .

Ah yes... I seem to remember the last few days Gerard addressed the SQL issue. Check it out. There is some special OS work that needs doing.

Hi Cedrah,

have you tried doing a System Restore in Vista and restoring back to a day when you know everything was still working fine?

You should try to open another pdf file, if it works then is the new pdf you're trying to open.. maybe its got some unsuported object.   Or if you created the pdf try saving it as pdf 4 or lower...

I have a similar issue, but have narrowed the problem down to how the PDF was created.

i use X3 and usually have no problems importing PDF files. recently one of my providers sent me a PDF that won't import [open]. they had rencently updated their software. when i checked the properties of the new PDF and the old PDF i noticed the new PDFs "Producer" is MDPDF 0.9, with PDF version 1.3.  the New PDFs  are procucer ; ReportPro 2.0, with PDF version 1.2.

i downloaded X5 to see if it could import the new producer, NO LUCK.  ANY suggestions? please help.

Maybe post the .pdf here and I can try using my various systems... and different versions of CorelDRAW... and assorted other tricks.
