I just got a new computer (laptop) and installed it. I got the latest patches, a hot patch and a service pack, and when I went to install them, I get a message that it was not installed, saying the program may be missing from my computer (it's not) or that I may have the wrong upgrade. I don't.
what could cause this, and how can I remedy it?
If you are on Windows XP, make sure you have SP3 installed on your machine.

It may be possible that your version is already updated.
Check to see the version #.

This is a brand new computer, Windows 7. I installed the software and immediately went to the update page for patches/fixes. Perhaps CorelDraw isn't set up for Windows 7?
And I'm wondering...does CorelDraw "allow" me to have a copy of this program on both my desktop and laptop? I take my laptop to work and keep both hard drives insync, information-wise. I sure hope I can do that with this program. Otherwise, it's really useless to me. I've been a CD user for over ten years now, have purchased many updated version (7, 8,9, 12, X4) and have done my part to keep the company going.
I'm trying to install the hotfix and the Service Pack.
CorelDRAW X4 runs almost flawlessly on Windows 7...better than Vista & XP, In my opinion.
You can have a second copy installed on another machine... I can't remember the terms for doing so.
I keep thinking that you already have the latest version of CDGS. You can simply check by Help > About CorelDRAW.

Hi Littlegreendots,
Dont worry, you can use CorelDRAW X4 on your computer with Windows 7.
I personally have CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 on my computer and running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. No problem at all. There might be an issue when installing X4, not necessarily CorelDRAW X4´s fault. Simply try to do it all again.
See to that you uninstall X4. Then reinstall it again, and after that install Service Pack 2. Thats how I did and then it worked great.

As far as I remember, it's ok to have the software from the same disk on more than one machine, as long as you use it only on one machine at a time. Perhaps somebody from Corel can hop in to clarify this.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will follow the suggestion to install the service pack. I tried doing the hot fix. Sorry, I am in write mode and I can't access the name of whoever recommended that.
I was thinking if there are any issues about having CD on two computers, since I registered it to the same email, that Corel might have blocked me from updating the second copy. No problems. I am the only one who uses my computers and would never be on both computers at the same time. I'm not sure how that would be an issue, unless CorelDraw has some super surveillance watching everything we do.
As far I know, you can install the same program on your computer and your laptop.
