I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've installed (and uninstalled) Coral Draw 8 three times after upgrading to XP, but every time I've tried to open a file, it hangs. Do I need to change a setting for it to work in XP? I received this program as a gift and used to love playing with it. Hope someone can tell me how to use this in XP.
Cyn - Home user of Coral Draw 8, or was before upgrading to XP. Now Coral Draw won't let me play with it. :(
CorelDRAW 8 is really old 14 is where it is. Do you have all the Draw 8 patches and updates installed?

Try running CD8 in XP-Win98 emulation mode.

Hi David, I forgot about updating and patches. My old PC finally gave out and that's how I ended up with XP. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Digital Demon, I'm not sure how to run this in emulation mode. Thanks for your reply.
I just searched Corel for v 8 updates & patches, but could not find anything.
If your servious I woudl upgrade. If no davidmilisock@graphictechnology.com is my mail I can check and see if I have the CD 8 patches and arrange to get them to you. BUT I MAKE NO WARANTY AND NO LONGER SUPPORT version 8.
The problem is not about how old is your software, is about compatibility. I'm sure that your CorelDRAW 8 will work fine under Windows 7

btw the name of the ocmpany is Corel and the program is CorelDRAW, not Coral
Right mouse click on the CorelDRW.exe in Program FilesChoose Compatibility TabTry Win 98 Compatibility mode.
Digital Demon, you're an angel. Just tried Win 98 Compatibility mode and it works!!! :) Thank you!!!!!
Glad to see you solved your issue.
I was going to add that I run CorelDRAW 7 in Windows XP (I have an issue with the machine I laser rubber for stamps in regards to the color white -- but that is another subject altogether) and don't have any problem with that at all.
Let not the one who says it can't be done interrupt the one who is doing it.
Ditto here.............I run an old copy of Corel 7 on an XP with no issues and without having to change to any compatibilty modes.
That same XP computer has copies of 11,12 and X3 installed (and running happily together) in addition to ver. 7.
The reason I keep version 7 is to run an old cutter with an obsolete plug-in that I just happen to love and don't want to part with until I'm forced to. <sigh>
