Having problems with Power Clip "Place inside Container". When I use this effect for some reason the object I select to place inside automatically centres itself inside object.

How do I stop this from happening....is there a way to edit the settings?

Regards Iva

1. Go to OPTIONS (Ctrl+J) and UNCHECK this box (see red arrow). 2. To edit, hold down Crtl+Shift+Click on object.

3. To finish edition, click as shown by green arrow (Fig. 2)

Please, please 'splain to me why does CorelDraw install with PowerClips automatically centered!  Hello...Corel engineers, quit doing that! That IMO is a stupid default. Maybe it's me but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

You're right. :-D

The next step is to make sure every user knows what powerclips are. I'd bet 3 out of 4 don't.

That's a shame.. since Powerclipping is an awesome CorelDRAW feature. So awesome I've bound a hotkey to it, since the menu route is too painful.

Sue,

I've been complaining to the Corel folks for years about this issue. One can only hope that the next version will finally have the correct defaults.

Me too! Me too! 1 vote from me!

i have read one of the post which have a horse and horseshoe... i tried following Silvo's (if i remember it right..) instructions and i cant make it since powerclipping sets it in the center.

The New CorelDRAW X5 has the Auto-Center Powerclip contents disabled by default.

However, I didn't like this so I changed it when I was customizing my workspace. Also I've set Place inside container as a shortcut key (Shift + Z)

Yes, I did post it. See screen shot how to check/uncheck the container auto-center: (Crtl+J to OPTIONS)

Yeah, I was so excited to know that, it has been one of the old desires of mine too.

Peace I-)

I think the most efficient way of PowerClipping is to drag the image on the clipping object with RMB and select "PowerClip Inside". :)

me too, since I never want contents centered to the powerclip.

That's the point of this thread coreltom... Even using the RMB drag technique if your settings is still in default, it will automatically center the object to your clipping object...
