Hi,

I'm so ashamed to ask such a newbie question but this little problem drives me crazy. Each time I try to save something in Corel Photopaint X3, the default format is .TIF. Even though I just saved the picture in .JPG format, if I alter the work and right then I try to save, then again, the default saving format is .TIFF so that I have to manually look for the JPG format in the scrollmenu and change the suggested name of the file to xxx.jpg, then save it.

That never happened when my Corel PPX3 was previously installed on Windows XP so I wonder if Vista (where PP is installed on now) can be the source of the problem.

Thanks for helping !!!

Whoooooaaaaaa -- first off NEVER repeatedly save jpeg to jpeg. Every
time you do so you will lose huge amounts of the image. Save as CPT
until finished, keep the last CPT and then save a JPEG if that is what
you really need.

As a direct answer to your question, X3 and earlier have the strange
habit of using the lest EXPORTED format as the default for save/save as.
