Are you using the Envelope Docker or the Tool Box Envelope?

tool box and property bar only

Can ;you offer any suggestions?

I had same problem with your file

Try flipping shapes over from top to bottom and try it.. ;-) works here that way.

What i mean is... is there any one way click to rebuild the wholes strip and twist it in an envelope? Because i am trying to rebuild it square by square. and later the alignment and continuity of the strips should become my problem.

What i am trying to do right now is to rebuild the strip in two parts.. the larger strip and the tail end.

Need your advices badly.

Thanks!

Hi, very sorry for the late reply, I have been kicking myself with this one as I have been trying different ways without luck, I tried combined, welded, object to curves, ect..... and this is what I got.

I used the envelope tool as suggested but got weird results,

Basically, the envelope tool is not respecting the black fill nor the combined object.

  1. Combine all shapes into one curve
  2. Go into node edit, select all nodes
  3. force all line segments into curve segments.
  4. Then the envelope function co-operates better IMO

Good afternoon Jeff, it is either me or we just found a flaw or bug on the Interactive tool. I think it is time for the Corel Gurus to figure it out.

Excellent, so the idea is not to apply the envelope to the desired object but to second (container) already deformed object and choose that as source.

I did that and the film clip held its designed shape very well.

It is up to the person that opened this post to give it the use he needed.

Actually you're acquiring the shape desired using the "create envelope from" function.

Jeff,

I have been following this thread and have a few questions. I have never had much of a problem with envelopes. But for some reason I cannot get the same results you are getting.

Are you using the Envelope Docker or the Tool Box Envelope? I have tired using both using you last CDR file and still end up wiht strange results. The left end of the film strip works but the right does not. I must be missing a setting. Attached is my results using the Envelope Docker. Can ;you offer any suggestions?

I tried your file and it is working fine.

I went to the left and selected the tool bar and clicked on the Envelope tool, selected one of the left nodes on the object and modified it.

So in the film strip example what it works best is to do your object, then create a shape with the required bend, then select original object and with the envelope docker open and select create from, then click on the bent shape.  Very similar process as the power clip function.

I am very aware of how to use the envelope docker, not so much on the envelope tool in the tool Box. What modifications did you do to the left nodes of the object. Following the remaining instruction set using the Tool Box Envelope Tool results in the evelope outline being place around the object, but does not change the object shape. Using the Docker version result in image in the above attached example.
