Hi,
Does anyone know how to fix this error message in Windows XP service Pack 3?
It does not allow me to use my Corel 13 and causes problems in Corel 8.
I've already unchecked the Install files for Asian languages, but to no avail.
Thanks,
Ben
Please enter more details: how much memory is available, and especially what kind of ERROR MESSAGE is shown. Corel 8 was already installed and crashed (or what kind of problem occurs)?
"An old dog learning new tricks". www.winmultimidia.com.br - CDX5 under: Win 7 Ultimate 32 bits // Intel Core Duo 2 x 4,0 Mb Ram // NVIDIA GeForce 512 Mb // 2 HDs: 300 Gb (master) and 160 Gb (slave).
Thanks for responding.
Memory should not be the problem. -- there's at least 100 GB free.
The error message is:
SmartHeap Library
MEM_BAD_POINTER
Corel 8 crashes when I try to print to file or import, and Corel 13 just refuses to open...
Hi.
There s a fix for MEM_BAD_POINTER error in SP2 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910466
This fix is included in SP3 so it's weird you get it in sp3.
If this issue started after installing SP3 click here

With sp3 also try freeing up some of your ram and try the programs again.

Hi Ben - I have exactly the same problem with this error message in Windows XP service Pack 3 not allowing me to access Corel photopaint 8. Its been working fine for years under SP2 and then suddenly went wrong about a week ago. I Googled it, ( the Install files for Asian languages were unchecked) and general concensus was install SP3, which I did and still no joy !!
Did you solve your problem ? can you point me in the right direction (no pun intended) ?
I'm having the same problem with PP9 and CD9, and I'm also running XP SP3.
What the heck.
Problem solved!
I was already running photopaint9 and coreldraw9 in Win98 compatability mode, but was still getting the mem bad pointer error.
Then I checkmarked "DISABLE VISUAL THEMES" on the compatibility window. That fixed it. It's working now! Yay!
Congratulations!
Where is the compatibility window in order to check it off?
thanks,
I guess I spoke too soon. It's doing it again today, even though it worked yesterday.
The compatibility window - right click on the .exe file and go to Properties. It should be there.
