I have noticed that workspace customization is responsible for a lot of the instabilities that can occur in Corel Draw. Very often a workspace reset solves any instability problems. On the other hand – what's any good with customization that causes instability issues? I just noticed that even a slight customization of my workspace caused issues with preset guidelines not showing up and custom page sizes disappearing.
My suggestion is that Corel provide a set of well tested and "certified" customizations that are safe to use. Either in the form of todays workspace files or, like in for example Dreamweaver, a set of hard-coded workspaces that you really can trust. I think they work very well in DW, and you can do your own further customization there and also a quick reset to the chosen workspace defaults.

Hmm... I've never had to use F8 and I never had a workspace problem. I find it to be very stable and my workspace is definitely custom....

Well, I've had a lot of problems and I think it's generally felt that the F8 reset solves a lot of problems. So therefore a well tested set of workspaces would be great. Let's hear what others say.
Lars, Fortunately I'm a lucky Guy.
My workspace is stable, never had a problem with it as yet.
Hopefully you don't create a workspace with the Connect Docker. Closing that docker will definitely close the application without warning.
Customization is all up to the user. Everybody is different. So Workspaces will differ from each of our needs.
I know many people won't be comfortable with my layout.

Hi folks,
I customize my workspace in only two ways: 1) Assign lots of shortkeys, 2) Put all my macros in the custom created menus, and don't touch anything else in the worskspace besides these two things and just like John and Addy, I too never had any of the problems that Lars is mentioning. So let's wait and see what others have to say about that.
Peace I-)
Hey Aleem..
How ya been? I was getting ready to do a "Where's Aleem" post.
Stable here, as well.
Knock on wood.
I can honestly say that I can't remember ever having to use F8 to reset.
I've had to uninstall/install when I ran into Wilcom issues with X5 beta but that's a totally different issue.

Hi John, thanks so much for that, I am perfectly fine by the way. Had just been too busy lately, everything is fine thankfully.
X5 trial crashed immediately when I tried to import my X4 workspace. It's very common. I was actually kind of wondering if it might crash as I was importing it and it must have read my mind.

Yes, that's more in line with my own experiences. It seems like many users can do a lot od customization without problems, but then some users like me and you, hardly get started with it, before the problems start. It would be good if we could nail down the culprit of these problems. Where does it lie? In keyboard shortcuts? New toolbars? Certain commands? Or a combination?
It's never advisable to import old workspaces from previous version into a new version. Its like you're looking for problems.

I get problems already with new workspaces.
