I have 30 separate line drawings on page 1 and I want selections of them on different pages, but some of the drawings will need to be on more than one page. I can't find a way of linking the drawings to the originals on page 1 so that I only need to edit one version.
Is there a way to do this? I'm using X5
Yes, CorelDraw has a Symbol Library that can probably be used for that purpose.
You would select each drawing on page 1, right click and create a symbol from it, giving it a name.
Thereafter you should be able to call up the symbols docker and put a copy of the symbol somewhere else. You can edit any copy of the symbol and all the other copies update to show the change.
There are some limitations -- see symbols : unsupported object types in the help file. But provided you do not need any of those you should be OK to use symbols.
good idea, i had a go and it works. each drawing already contains a lot of symbols from the symbol library but the symbols are preserved as symbols (not reverted to objects which i thought might happen) so i can still edit them too. great!
